This is my old barge, picked it up after an unexpected eBay win with its fair share of issues. I have had it for around 4 months and I am frighteningly smitten.
Done:
Shocks & Springs
Full stainless exhaust
New exhaust manifold
PCV overhaul
Induction kit
Wheels & Tyres
Steering wheel
Stereo & speakers
Fixed Odometer
Electric fan conversion
New belts and tensioner
To Do:
RUST!
Polybush chassis and drivetrain
My lockdown project. Non running 740 2.3 GLE which has needed a bit of work to get it back up and running. It now has an MOT but attempted to change the water pump and its seized on. Off to the garage next week to get fixed and should be back on the road.
Unsure what to do with it. Sell it or use as a daily in replacement for my Mini.
Here's the new family hack which will sit alongside my BMW 540i xDrive until I can hand it back and get something more fun. Working from home means that anything else I get will sit on the drive most days and only get some weekend use.
I had an old XC90 previously which was fantastic at what it did but lacked refinement, luxury and performance.
Things I like.
It's the petrol T5 AWD version so it's pretty quick for a car of this type. 247BHP. I don't know who was more surprised at the lights on the test drive, me or the Mini Cooper I left behind.
It's completely anonymous with the standard looking wheels and soccer mom looks.
Built in dual booster seats means when my little one is a bit bigger, we won't need car seats for him and a friend.
Plenty of tech and a lot more luxury than the old car. Heated steering wheel, camera's, sat nav, etc.
Interior. I really like how much more premium Volvo have got these days. I also love the colour of the seats.
Things I'm not keen on.
The touchscreen/infotainment system really isn't intuitive. I can do everything I need to but I end up swiping up, left, right and back to the home screen again several times before I can get what I want. I'll get used to it but the BMW system is way better.
The size is perfectly adequate but smaller than the last family car. As much as I'd love the XC90, I'm keeping money back for a nice, more fun car so the cheaper and smaller 60 will have to cope with the Ikea visits, tip runs, etc.
