Could you post a photo of it in the sun...it looks black....

My "Black" S80 looks to have bronze/brown flecks when in the sunlight
Here's a shot from yesterday which sort of shows the purple to black colour. I'll get some better shots when the sun makes an appearance!

Looks a lot better than our family friends

It got taken off the road about 10 years ago as the MOT tester said "look you cant weld it anymore its rotten", after it had been welded up for a few years on the trot.

He then replaced it with a S70 T5 which has been off the road for about 3 years now, I did however get the S70 fired up a few months ago and moving. The owner has since died.

I remember reading your posts about the S70 I think?

This one's pretty good - it's solid underneath in all the usual places, not even any rust on the battery trays. There are a few bubbles starting on the inner lips of the rear wheel arches I need to grind out and bilt hamber to try and slow down. Not sure if I'll get chance before winter comes or if I'll have to avoid salty days until I do.

It's got a few little dinks here and there that came from the original owners advancing years, only one of which really notices unless you are really looking closely so I'll try and get that one pressed out.
Interior is mint as you would hope with 82k on it.

My happiness at finding it faded a little bit when the 15 year old cambelt stripped 7 teeth on the way home from buying it!
The crank ended up 40deg behind the cam, but it kept running. Inspection with a borescope showed it hit all 4 intake valves, but I put a new belt on along with a full service and it seems to have simply shrugged it off and I've put over 2k on it since I got it back on the road in June. smile

Yeh I posted up, I need to find out who is claiming it in the will, if its our family friends partner then I need to try get it running again and get it down to the local MOT centre.

My own very first foray in to Volvo ownership: 13 plate V40 D3 SE Lux Nav. Arrived on Tuesday smile

No footrest though, which is odd - I'm trying to see if I can retro fit that one. I need to fit my front and rear dashcam too - that'll be fun biggrin
Sorry to revisit a months old post, but did you look into this at all James? I picked up an 11 plate S60 in Aug and the lack of footrest is befuddling.

And so as to remain in keeping with the thread…

It was a long trip and I was a very bored passenger. See if I can get 123456 and 789.0 on the trip. That would take some doing.

Managed it in my wife's V70XC earlier this year:

You need to think about setting it up a few thousand before so you don't miss it!

My 2007 S60 T5 manual, with the legendary B5244T5 engine with K24 combo. Was searching for one for years but only came across mostly pre-facelift autos, which were no good for what I wanted which was to build a sleeper.

Thankfully, I found this one;

Believed to be one of only 3 T5 facelifts in Ireland with the manual 6 speed box. This particular example was a one owner car, FDSH and low mileage. I happened to come across the ad minutes after it was posted, which is a good thing because the PO told me that in the couple days it took for me to view the car, his phone was ringing off the book with some offering nearly double what he had it advertised for (€2500) so that they could take my place. Thankfully he stuck with me and I managed to secure it.

The car is completely mint, which I know is a term often thrown around, but it's very true with this example. Mechanically it drove absolutely flawlessly, and cosmetically was a 9/10 car requiring a touch up on the rear bumper and a wheel refurb.

In my year of ownership, I've turned it from a mostly stock example (PO got a remap boosting it from 260hp to 308hp), to a fire breathing but understated sleeper. It's now pushing just shy of 470hp, with the only giveaways being the rather throaty exhaust burble and the XC90 V8 front brakes.
