I have a 2006 XC70, owned since new and always serviced at a franchise dealer, including cam belt change etc. Now at about 95,000 miles. Am thinking of selling in the summer but the service and MOT are due soon. Will a full Volvo service history add much to the value or should I go with an indie for this one (i suspect it needs front disks and pads so won't be cheap at a main dealer). The car is in good condition mechanically but otherwise shows some signs of being the family bus for 8 years.....

Any thoughts on what it is worth? About £7k?

thanks in advance.

IMO the fact you are still servicing regularly will be sufficient, I doubt main dealer adds much.

As for the discs as pads, it is soooo easy you have to do it yourself. Dealer quoted me £900 for discs and pads all round on our XC90, used OEM parts for less than half of that. Would take you 2 hours max for all 4.....including the jacking up and down!! I am no mechanical genius either.

I think provided it's serviced at a Volvo specialist, your residuals should be fine.

Due to the high costs of main dealers, what I've previously done, is use them for the main service but then if they pick up any issues e.g. brake pads/discs need changing, I've had that done at a local independent, which is loads cheaper.
