Something smaller and more economical (MrsTheWife recently bought a bigger car and this is too big to mostly ferry me around in)

Ah you’ll regret it some day! Were you on the polestar Nurburgring trip? Looked a lot of fun!

I was indeed, it was a great weekend. Pity I was the furthest north and had to leave the fun early. Did 500 miles home in a day!

Did you sell it ok in the end? We're about to put ours on classifieds - six cylinder like yours in blue. Great car but need to make space for an impending purchase! We whipped down to Classic Le Mans in it for a swansong - air con swung it for the trip with this current hot spell smile

Yes, it went to a Volvo fan from the Nottingham area - came to view it on a Sunday, left a deposit and after bank transfer drove it home on the Wednesday.

You might have a job selling privately, I had to drop the price lower than I'd have liked (not by haggling) to get any interest. Problem is even three years old they are still quite high value and people tend to want finance and warranty which a private seller can't supply.

Got this beauty now though . . .

anyone would think I like blue cars or something . . .missing some of the six cylinder grunt but not the MPG

He's just joined the Polestars UK group on Facebook - it's a 65 plate, so a 6 cylinder

Interesting that you bought a Giulia as after 20 years in the Volvo community I too have bought one, a Quadrifoglio last august.

Don.

Lovely. I do like those cars! I have a bright blue Alpine coming so not dissimilar to you! Hope you enjoy it.

Good point about the private sale thing. I'll have to give it some thought. Cheers.

I had the car on Autotrader and here on Pistonheads. The buyer saw it on a Facebook Volvo group and contacted me via the Autotrader advert.

Hi all. I’ve had an eye on these for a couple of years now and keep looking at them. Not been out in the 2.0, what is the general consensus on them?
It will be my daily driver so the improved mpg would be helpful. What do they really typically return on average?
Anyone know the rebel blue car for sale at dealers in Bedford?
I’m not on Facebook so can’t access the owners group.
Presume no meetings planned over winter?
Thanks

18 months out of the loop, so can't really answer your question. The 6 is better to drive and sounds great. But the 4 ends up with more power and better MPG. The best I ever got from my 6 was 35mpg on a really slow run down to the Eurotunnel. Commute to work about 20.

It's one car (I've had a few) that I miss, but it was going to start costing me big money (£1600 for front disc and pads), plus the MPG and VED

The Alfa is great - much better on fuel, nice interior, beautiful direct steering.

Yep that makes sense. Those brakes aren’t cheap! Thanks for the info.

I sold my 6cyl Polestar in August and also went down the Alfa Giulia route (ended up in a Quadrifoglio). The Volvo was/is a great all round car, and I'll be the first to admit that I do miss the practicality of it. The Alfa though is a different level of car. For me, the things that defined my Volvo ownership experience were:

+ Q car looks / great performance / practical
- Poor dealership experience / expensive front brakes (to get the brakes changed all round on the Alfa is cheaper than just the fronts on the Volvo) / poor turning circle

The above being said, I would definitely consider another Polestar if I was to go down that route again.
