I didn't read about it the car at all at launch time. Where would I have read about it? I saw a V90 in the showroom, and the dealer told me about the V90XC, but not the petrol engines.

I never read PH articles. I almost never click on any thread begging "Re:". The only car magazines I read are Classic Cars and C&SC. When I'm in the market for a new car, I'll read some reviews online, but other than that, I really don't pay any attention to the new car market.

My S90 will be here in 5 weeks and I chose charcoal and wood . . . with a maple brown exterior.
I've been looking for my next car, and have rejected almost everything on sale. Then I saw the Volvo S90, and I think it hits the nail on the head for me. It's lovely. I'm seriously thinking about getting one later this year.

It's what the Jaguar XJ should have been.

Sat in one yesterday at Maidstone Volvo.

D5 Inscription. Utterly superb. The Cross Country was nice as well.

But at £57,000 for the model I sat in with options - far too much money for me. Will have to wait and pick one up in 2 years biggrin I'd have to have the AWD D5 personally.

Same for me - BMW 5 series is just another 5 series, there are millions of them out there and they'e all the same, competent but boring. Same for E-class but the current E-class is ugly, the Jaguar XF is a bit cramped and plain now, lost its flair. The only car left in that class is the S90/V90 and with such a brilliant interior and specification it can't fail to win people over.

I would have loved the D5 AWD too!

But.... as you say the price goes off the scale for one of those, especially when it has the showroom extras!

90% of the time I'll be fine with the D4 and the other 10% I'll wish I had the D5. The holiday's worth of difference over an 18 month lease just wasn't worth it for me.

I'm already praying that the V90 Cross Country is on a deal in December 2018!

This is what did it for me, after years in A6's a 535d and 520d's I just wanted a change of scene. And boy is it different in that cockpit!

Just ordered my new V90 smile

It's taken me a couple of weeks to decide on my options....and a few diagareements with the other half, but now the order is in for 1st July delivery.

I've been delighted with my current S60 d4 r design , quite possibly one of the best and most fun to drive cars I've had in a long time, but an ever-growing teenager combined with a baby and me being over 6ft have contributed to needing something bigger. I'm fed up of teenage knees in my back on long journeys.

Have been very happy with performance of the current engine, I've decided to stick with the D4, so although it'll be a tad slower I'm hoping it won't be that noticeable.

The hardest choice was the interior trim....opted for metal mesh inlays eventually with the dark seats.

So we have gone for a Saville grey Inscription...Finally being a gown up and coming out of the r design which can be a tad bumpy smile apparently this is an issue for passengers smile

Added the 5 twin spoke alloys, xenium pack, winter pack and the privacy glass.

Is everyone else super impatient once the order is in ? July 1 suddenly seems ages away :/

Psssst...the old D4 engine has ceased to be. You're getting an entirely different engine.

My S60 has ( or at least i was under the impression) the latest d4 engine...It's only a couple of years old...When did the new one arrive, did I miss something... ? Still if they've made it even better then great...

The five cylinder D4 and D5 are no more. The V90 has a new four cylinder diesel or petrol.

Ok you got me confused...the D4 in my s60 is a 4 cylinder...

And having done a quick google the 2014 s60s were the first Volvos to be fitted with the new d4 engine..

Mine is definitely not a 5 cylinder, and definitely upwards of 180bhp.

Petrol or diesel? The diesel D4 was five cylinder, 2 litre, the D3 was four cylinder, 2 litre, as used by Ford and other johnnie foreigners, c.136bhp, all now discontinued.

But I might be confused, my brain hurts.

Just found this...from Feb 2014...

2014 Volvo S60 R Design Nav Lux Review

The Volvo S60 D4 is the most frugal yet, and the first Volvo to record emissions below 100g/km. The new D4 is the first S60 to use Volvo’s new family of engines, a clean-sheet design built and designed by Volvo.

Part of the reason I went for the s6o d4 was for tax purposes and hence why the engine choice was so important to me, and why I wanted to stay with it in the v90

Basically the s60s have been using the new d4 engine since 2014..

Now whether they have refined it again is another matter...

But the engine itself is definitely a 4 cylinder in my car

Think they will be the same engine - 190ps (187bhp). The 4-pot D4 in the V70 is a nice engine so I imagine it will suit the V90 very well.
