Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Sport Mode?

Morning, i'm just after a sanity check as to what flicking the gearstick over to Sport mode alters in the cars dynamics??
Reason for asking is the car has no Sport button or the like so the only way to select Sport is by moving the gearstick across, however when doing this the car appears to pick up it's coat tails & take off like a scalded cat, so gives the impression that Sport alters the throttle mapping as well as no doubt making changes to the Auto box shift patterns.
Can anyone confirm what's altered & how when selecting Sport?
