Has anyone else had Volvo refuse to price match under the Volvo Service Promise?

I have received a flat refusal from Volvo Cardiff, which should be against their corporate policy.

Hello - We have the booking below confirmed in your automated email below. Your website quotes a price of £275 for this service. Whereas we have received a written quotation from an independent service centre less than one mile from you for £150. Please confirm that you will match this price or cancel our booking. Good Morning - I am unable to price match £150. I can certainly discount the service to £218 from the original quote of £275. I would like to make you aware that independent service centres are not able to carry out the complimentary Service software update that is carried out here at the main dealer. I am very surprised of that cost for the Oil filter, gasket and multi filter to be changed with genuine parts, including all the checks and fully synthetic 0-20 spec oil. Please be aware that the oil settings are very sensitive and we have the fully trained technicians who are experts in this. Please let me know if you would like to continue with your booking with the discounted cost above. Regards, Volvo Cardiff

Hello - The Volvo Service Promise states that: "we will also price match any like for like written quote for a Volvo Service using the correct oil and Volvo genuine parts from any garage within 5 miles". Would you like their quote in writing? Regards, P1pps

Hello - We do price match against other Volvo Dealers, but not non Volvo Dealers, so the price as quoted below would stand. Regards, Volvo Cardiff

Hopefully it should only take a reminder that their own website does not state "only price match a Volvo dealer" but simply "any dealer".

PS - I'm impressed you managed to get a full quote from a local non-Volvo dealer as they must know that half their time doing those quotes is wasted as the quote is simply used as the basis of a price match!

Seriously? You’ve never had worse customer service than this refusal to price match? You are very fortunate indeed.

Get it done for £150 at the place offering to do it for £150 and get on with your life.

So, who has a lease that was due to go back and has been postponed due to Covid? Ours should have gone back by now (this included the 90 day informal extension) but we had a letter stating that due to the current situation, they can not arrange collections and therefore hire charges would be reduced by 50%. Sounds great but what if the car isn't needed? Anyone in a similar boat?
