This is a maps update - i had the same thing and the full EU map set is 46gb. I just updated the UK map as only had a 32gb pendrive to hand but you have to use an app on your pc and a usb drive.
Once all downloaded and on the pen drive you plug it into the car and leave it a good while. Took perhaps 30-40 mins in the car to load the files and then said to leave it after the car turned off to complete. Was done the next time i started the car. The only frustrating thing is that i still get the 'updates available' message because the other countries haven't been updated yet. Will probably update them all at some point just to make that message go away!
You download the software needed from here: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support/downloads/dow...

Hope this helps!
OK thanks think I'll leave that for a while then! Is it the Google maps update that my dealer mentioned when I did the test drive? I don't think so - it just has newer map detail as far as i can tell - i didnt notice anything significantly different although the car is still new to me so maybe ive missed some of the chnages. I think there is a bigger piece in Volvo's future where Google will take over the design and building of the whole user interface and sensus will run on Android P & google maps :-)Wish we had that already so the lovely screen could be used for more 'stuff' with android apps etc. Would love to have more music streaming options than just Spotify.

Anyone own / driven an S90 D5 with 21” wheels?! If so, what is your honest opinion?
We have the chance of a very good lease deal but the car comes with 21” wheels (not negotiable apparently) and reviews suggest the ride isn’t great even on 18s and one review said ‘We really wouldn’t go bigger than 18-inch wheels: we dread to think what the S90 is like running on optional 21-inch wheels. The ride is quiet, though, adding long-distance reassurance.’
Thanks in advance.

I've just ordered the standard V90 Momentum D4 for my company car, only £200pm via business lease so no extra contributions from me.
Surprised to see that the led dash was standard on this model, for some reason I thought it was only on Momentum Pro
Colour is Onyx black which was the only in stock colour, so 3 week wait.

Yes. I test drove this model and now have the D4 R Design on 18s. The ride is better on the smaller wheels no doubt but I could tolerate it with 21s. The big issue with the bigger wheels would be the tyre cost! On another note is anyone struggling to get into Volvo on call app this evening?

Yes Volvo On call had been down for me - kept getting a login timed out error. Back working and logged in again now though. On another note is anyone struggling to get into Volvo on call app this evening?

What is Volvo On Call? I keep getting a message that my subscription has expired and to contact the dealer, but I assumed it was breakdown cover!
It's the connected services bit that lets you get things like real time traffic (over the internet) in the car as well as using the app for remote services (sending addresses to the car sat nav, remote start and remote climate settings). My S90 Inscription is going back next month.
It's been a very nice place to sit but the road and wind noise is not acceptable for a car at this price. It's much noisier than my old S80. The gearbox is slow to respond and hesitant, worst point is slowing for a junction then accelerating away - the gearbox seems to be waiting for the engine which is in turn waiting for the gearbox . . . so nothing . . . nothing . . . then a jerk as it gets its act together and pulls away faster than you really wanted which is jerky. Fuel consumption has been fantastic, at least 50mpg on every long journey, 40 around town and 30 something when hoofing it, within reason.
The sat nav has been very good, really useful. Cruise control is pointless as it insists on braking too eagerly making me look like a tt to other motorway drivers. Lane control is pointless as I need to keep my hand on the wheel . . . if I'm doing that I may as well steer, it's not exactly difficult on the motorway.
Seats are very comfortable - not as good as previous S80 or V70 but better than the current competition- the leather is very smooth and soft, if a little thin. Air con is great, handling is better than S80 but the road and suspension noise spoils it.
Overall it's been OK - better than a 520D with it's naff leather, cheap interior and ugly looks, better than E-Class 220d with its fake leather and ugly looks and better than the A6 with its rubbish auto multitronic gearbox which eventually explodes and costs £kkk's to fix.
Only major issue is the paint finish which is stained by bird poo, Volvo say it's my fault but when I ask what I ought to have been saying to the birds they don't have an answer. Apparently I gather I ought to have asked the birds to poo elsewhere . . . I'l leave it to LEX to argue that one with Volvo.

I came from a 65 plate awd 420d gc auto and wife has a 67 plate petrol VW Golf with dsg box. Cant say I've experienced anything suspect with the v90's auto box. Very smooth and none of this hesitation often mentioned, driven it both on eco mway runs as well as seeing how far i can push a fwd volvo bus on back roads. . Wonder if they have tweaked it for the latest MY19 builds - its easily comparable to the BMW and DSG boxes im used to. I've got a D4 V90 Inscription from March this year (don't know if it's a 2018 or 19). I'd echo the comments about the clunky gearbox. I've had 320d, M140 and G31 530d with the ZF auto and the implementation in each was far better than Volvo have managed with their own. Coming back on throttle on B roads is a clunky affair, it's slow witted on junctions. The changes themselves are smooth enough, it's the transition from off to on throttle that seems to be the problem.
If it were my car rather than the wife's it'd go back early on the back of the gearbox/handling.

I test drove an XC90 D5 a couple of years ago and the hesitant gearbox was very noticeable and really annoyed me (had an i3 at the time so used to instant go!). It was something I was worried about when leasing the V90 T4 (2018 MY), however having had the T4 for a few weeks I can say the gearbox is smooth and responsive enough even in eco mode. I have a lot of roundabouts on my commute (Swindon!) and it copes with the junction roll up and boot it no problem (better than my brain and the Gti gearbox some days Driven lots of auto's over the years and this engine/gearbox combo feels like a good one to me.
Maybe it's something to do with the D4-5/power-pulse mapping?
