The Volvo S90/V90 lease thread
Discussion
That's interesting - I thought when I saw 'Active High Beam' that it would be like the BMW and Merc systems which mask other traffic but leave the high beam on otherwise. Slightly disappointed when I tried it that it simply turns the high beam on and off automatically; mine's a MY2018 car and on checking the brochure, that's all it is described as. Is yours MY2019?
The auto high beam on/off definitely doesn't work that well; it sometimes turns off based on reflections from street signs and bollards but it's quite slow to turn off when an actual car comes the other way. With these systems, if they don't give you confidence straight away then you don't get that confidence back (well, that's the way I find it!) so I just use the manual high beam.
ETA: I can easily tell when the high beams come on; it's when the dipped lights come on as it gets dark that I can't perceive.

Anyone else having issues with the DAB radio changing channels by itself?
I have noticed it a few time and at first thought it must have been my hand on the wheel control but last night it did it 4 times in the space of 10 mins and 2 of the times I was stopped at lights not even touching the steering wheel.
Its not the end of the world I know but just hope its not a bigger issue developing with the sensus.

My DAB was rock solid until this week, but for the last few days it has been losing the national BBC radio stations. They've come back for now.
I've changed the radio channel quite often when parking, by accidentally pressing the controls on the steering wheel as I've been turning it.

Hi All,
Will be swapping out my current leased Audi S3 for a new set of wheels in March 2019. Due to an expanding family (2 and 4-legged), an estate car fits the bill. The deals on the V90s seem absolutely superb at the minute, and they're a great looking car as evidenced on this topic!
Best I've got so far is (8k Miles, Osmium Grey, Reverse Camera):
T4 Momentum 1+35, £334.15 p/m (inc VAT, + £238 processing fee).
This works out slightly cheaper than the Santander offer, (£341.12, 1+17).
Anyone found anything cheaper?

First bit of trouble the other day. Sat nav screen froze. Couldn't get it to do anything then it went blank. Followed by a fairly loud beeping noise coming from near the steering wheel. Turned car off and it still carried on. Couple of frantic minutes went by then it stopped. Been fine ever since so not sure what happened!

What data only sims are you all putting in your cars? Dealer suggested about £20pm which I thought quite high. Seen 3 mobile data only SiMs on Amazon and fleabay
Are there any estimates about how much data you'd need? You could try Giff-Gaff which start from £5https://www.giffgaff.com/sim-only-plans
Alternatively, you can find loads listed here:
https://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/sim...
No not really, been on a Jag forum and someone posted data usage rates for streaming music etc. I know my kids once caned 2GB of data watching YouTube on an in car device in a couple of hours but I’m not going to tell them it’s connected WiFi wise. It was going to be accessing Spotify really and so the maps could update so thought maybe buy a 12GB and see how it lasts.
Someone recommended a 3 free SIM which comes with 250MB of data per month and costs absolutely nothing. Doesn't sound much data but it's enough to do the RTTI on the nav all month.
I'm not convinced there's a real reason to use anything but tethering to your phone, though. If you use plenty of data (I get through about 15GB a month) then you'll surely have a decent data allowance on your phone contract. I can't see any reason to spend £20 a month more just for the car.

Agree with Jobbo - if you're keeping it for the RTTI stuff (+ some spotify) you won't need more than a few GB (maybe the Vodafone 3GB for £8 p/m). As you say, if you start allowing the family to use the connection for streaming video etc then you'll need a lot more!
These are 1-month rolling contracts so if you find yourself running out, it's quick to get a new SIM with more data (or downgrade if the opposite is true).

Don't forget that with the Santander deal, you would only pay for one service during the lease (or two if you calculate at 2 x 18 month leases), so that may make it cheaper than the deal you quote which would presumably require 3 services. Will be swapping out my current leased Audi S3 for a new set of wheels in March 2019. I have bendy headlights on my S90 and honestly I love them! They work really well. I also have the auto dipping high beam and that also works really well for me, it only shuts off what's necessary (so some of the high beams (passenger side) remain on when auto dipped where they won't blind the oncoming car).
For info, when the auto beam goes from high beam to dipped it's pretty obvious from the light output but also the light icon on the dash changes from blue (when high beam on) to white.
Well I’m glad I posted and you replied. Turns out the auto high-beam isn’t just on/off at all. I was so paranoid about blinding people I’d kept turning it off manually but it’s rather cleverer than that and definitely does more than simply turning the high beams off. It’s still not obvious what it’s doing - the blue high beam light stays on when it’s cutting light towards other cars. You have to trust it and leave it to do the job. Glad I tried.

Fair point! Thanks. Do you happen to know what the servicing intervals are?TedB86 said:

Cheers

Glad you worked it out! Just flick the self returning knob upwards and your auto high beam is on. Mine is a MY18 and operates the main beam quicker and smarter than I can! And mine does just switch off the bit that blinds oncoming traffic, the rest (mainly on the passenger side) stay on or move a bit! It’s still not obvious what it’s doing - the blue high beam light stays on when it’s cutting light towards other cars. I found at first watching the lights shoot all over the place a little distracting, your own little light show, but now I expect all cars to do it!
Just turn it on and leave it on and trust it, like the Adaptive Cruise, just trust it! It all works really well and after a while you'll see how it behaves.
As for servicing which has been asked elsewhere, I believe it's 12 months or 12500 miles whatever comes first. I have a two year lease but I've never paid for a second service and never been penalised, either by slightly delaying the first service or sending it back a month early as 50% of the final payment early termination fee (£162 in my case) is a good £250 cheaper than the second service.

The Volvo bendy lights are miles better than those on my previous BMW. Used to get flashed constantly by oncoming traffic on the BMW where it was slow to react, only had one instance in the v90 and that was a particularly bad bit of road where I doubt i could have reacted any quicker. The beam pattern is much sharper too imo. Between the lights and HUD it easily justified going for a pro model to me :-) use both daily.
