I thought £36 seemed cheap too but above is where I read it from.

EDIT - I've just realised that was the cost on the Skoda, not the Volvo. getmecoat
I think they are checked to the BVRLA standards so it should be the same for a volvo.. I hope

Remember you dont have to hand the car back as if it's in brand new show room condition - although you might like to keep it that way smile
At the end of the term an honest car will look like it's been used normally.

Anyone driven the D4 and T4 to compare?

Drove the D4 the other day but the T4 is what I'm after based on the deals being better. D4 wasn't exactly quick but was acceptable.

I'm picking up the T4 tomorrow at 6pm, so I'll let you know what I think. Coming from the 313bhp BiTDi, I can't imagine it's going to exactly thrill, but I'm expecting performance to be adequate for sensible progress.

Cheers.

In years gone by I'd have expected such a thing to feel a bit gutless usually due to being naturally aspirated but I'd like to think the turbocharged modern 'run of the mill' petrols can hold their own.

The problem a lot of these modern turbo petrol engines have is that they've been tuned to feel quite linear. My 225bhp 5-cylinder turbo S-Max felt waaaaay faster than its 240bhp 4-cylinder successor. The "more powerful" engine felt like a sewing machine.

I hope the T4 doesn't feel like that! I'll be prepared to live with it though, for what I'm paying...

What will you be paying?

This is the cheapest over the full term that I've seen anywhere-

Wow, that's bloody good! I'll be paying £316/month for a V90 R-Design T4 in Savile Grey, 10k miles.

I pulled the trigger earlier this week on an S90 R Design. It's not due for delivery until Feb/March but thoroughly looking forward to it.

Only an 18 month deal but felt it was too good to pass on.

9+17 - £190 per month. £180 admin fee.

The original quote was for 8k miles, but the contract I was sent and signed stated 10k so didn't say anything and just signed!

Great deal. Does that include metallic?

Yeah it came with the choice of 3 Metallic colours, the premium metallic was extra but I went with Osmium Grey which was included.

Thanks. Are these pre-ordered cars? Someone on the main thread said the Bells deal was quoted as having a 6 month lead time so Feb/Mar seems a bit optimistic unless they have cars already ordered.......

Picked up the V90 T4 R-Design today. First Impressions:

  • Build quality and ambience very good, although a little bit of a step down from my A7. Black gloss plastic is just horrid.
  • I can live without electric adjustment for the seats; once I find a good position, I'll probably never touch the controls again.
  • Seat heaters are very powerful!
  • Engine power in the T4 is good enough. It's not going to tear up the drag strip, but it certainly doesn't feel slow.
  • Stop/start a little slow to respond.
  • Gearbox nowhere near as bad as reported in the press.
  • Ride is firm, but not crashy; could do with being a tad softer.
  • Difficult to judge economy at this stage, I'll report back in a few hundred miles.
  • Disappointing lack of exterior courtesy lighting.
  • The menu and controls on Sensus infotainment system are arcane and not very user friendly.
  • The app is okay, but took a few tries to pair with the car. Some functions just don't seem to work, although remote start/stop was fine.
  • Pilot assist is very impressive.

I'm finding the auto start/stop a little bit too eager to stop the engine.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, of course, as it's my first automatic ever, but it seems odd that the system manages to stop the engine in the split second it takes me to switch from D to R (going through N). It doesn't even stop fully before it's in R and needs to start up again, making a somewhat rattling sound.

Additionally, when parking at the supermarket, it will switch the engine off as soon as the car stops, which combined with the slowly reacting parking sensors means it will stop 2-3 times before I'm actually parked correctly.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

It's this one I believe:

https://www.carsiteleasing.co.uk/personal-lease-ca...

Other profiles available on there too. 3 + 17 is about £5 more a month amortised.

Car looks excellent witchfinder.

Regarding ride, I suspect R-design won't help that.

The momentum I drove rode very well I thought.

I was confused by this at first, having been used to the system in my Audi that re-started the engine once you took your foot off the brake.

To stop without stopping the engine, you need to be gentle on the brake pedal. If you're firm, it'll stop the engine. You can then take your foot off the pedal to avoid blinding the person behind you with your brake lights. It restarts the engine when you press the accelerator. The petrol engine seems to restart very quickly.

Thanks. I'm very happy with it. I knew it was going to be firmer in the R-Design, but thought the excellent seats/styling would be worth the trade off. The ride is firm but not as hard or crashy as my A7 S-Line. It could just do with being a bit softer.

On thing I'm finding odd is that not all of the Volvo On-Call app stuff works properly. I can remotely start and stop the car, but it can never locate the car on the map, and it won't do the light-flash on the app. If it weren't paired correctly, I'd expect NOTHING to work.

IIRC the brake lights remain on when auto hold is activated.

Best thing to do is configure start stop off in individual mode and set the car in that when you set off.
I hate start stop unless I'm in a long traffic jam.
