I was confused by this at first, having been used to the system in my Audi that re-started the engine once you took your foot off the brake.
To stop without stopping the engine, you need to be gentle on the brake pedal. If you're firm, it'll stop the engine. You can then take your foot off the pedal to avoid blinding the person behind you with your brake lights. It restarts the engine when you press the accelerator. The petrol engine seems to restart very quickly.
I've worked out the parking bit, I just need to be more gentle with braking and gracefully come to a stop in the right place, but I cannot work around the engine being switched off when I pull up at my house, stop and want to reverse onto the driveway. As soon as the knob goes into 'N' (on the way to R) the engine goes off.To stop without stopping the engine, you need to be gentle on the brake pedal. If you're firm, it'll stop the engine. On thing I'm finding odd is that not all of the Volvo On-Call app stuff works properly. I can remotely start and stop the car, but it can never locate the car on the map, and it won't do the light-flash on the app. If it weren't paired correctly, I'd expect NOTHING to work.
Not sure if you're on iphone or android but on the latter, after installing the app half the things didn't work either. I went into Google Play store page for the volvo app and there was an update available which I downloaded and installed. Later it autoupdated itself and a lot of new options showed up (like door locking/unlocking that wasn't there to begin with). Everything is working flawlessly for me and not sure if it matters but I do have the journal enabled.225 said:
Best thing to do is configure start stop off in individual mode and set the car in that when you set off.
I hate start stop unless I'm in a long traffic jam.
I'm used to it going off on the traffic lights, my focus did that too. Although with manual it was a bit more predictable and under my control. I generally find the feature working well, just slightly too eagerly.I hate start stop unless I'm in a long traffic jam.

Just an update on delivery dates.
Placed an order for a s90 R Design T4 Osmium Grey with family pack on 22nd October.
At that point we had agreed March delivery on a 19 plate.
Had a call today from Volvo today 30th October expected delivery May 2019.
No big deal for us but maybe any one interested may prefer a stock car rather than a factory order.

How's the fuel economy going Witchfinder?
I averaged 41mpg on the way to work this morning. That was about 75% motorway at between 50 and 70mph (traffic was moderate), 10% stop-start traffic, and the rest was 30mph back roads. Eco mode was engaged for most of the journey.I reckon I'm averaging 25ish around town, and 42ish on motorways, for a combined average in the mid thirties. It's currently saying 28mpg average, but there's only 120 miles on the odometer, and I wasn't driving or behaving economically for the first 40 miles of that (eg: I sat in the car with the engine running while I tested various things).
It'll do me just fine. I've found myself mostly running in Eco mode, just because I can "coast" quite a bit on my commute. On gradients and when decelerating, the gearbox disengages the engine so it runs at idle while the car freewheels.
I’m collecting my V90 on Saturday, ordered via Santander. I was told you get the complimentary 7 day free insurance which you can set up when collecting at the dealer or in advance of collection.
Called Volvo Insurance today and after giving all our details I was told our application was denied due to our postcode (in London)! This has never happened to us before when setting up complimentary insurance with our previous cars. Did anyone else have a problem activating their insurance?
It’s frustrating as I now have one day to try and get some quotes to try and activate my insurance before Saturday. Thankfully I called in advance to sort this out as I dread to think what would have happened if the insurance was denied when collecting the car.

Copy and pasted from the leasing thread-
Got to sort out the details which I'll be getting shortly but pulling the trigger on an S90 T4, Osmium Grey with winter pack, December delivery.
There were no base T4 Momentum cars for delivery for Dec/Jan which is what I was after. This one has the winter pack at an extra 20 quid a month but it's working out a bit cheaper to drop from 10k to 8k miles and pay the excess mileage.
So it'll be 24 x £273 a month.

Oh we are in the process of ordering one through the Santander deal, did you go for any options? Also, what paint did you chose and did it cost anything extra?Called Volvo Insurance today and after giving all our details I was told our application was denied due to our postcode (in London)! The only paint options that cost extra on the Santander deal are the "premium metallics" like Bursting Blue. The others can be added at no extra cost. A lot of people seem to be plumping for Osmium Grey.Witchfinder said:

Perfect, thats what the salesman in our local branch had said. We are between the white and osmium grey, possibly even silver but unlikely Walter_White said:

I don't think white suits the car, but it's a matter of personal taste. Osmium looks great, and I'm very happy with Savile (even if it does show the dirt terribly).Walter_White said:

Hi, can I ask what deal you’ve been offered please? Did you need to have a Santander account to get a quote? Thanks

Some people got away with not have a Santander 123 product. I think they have clamped down a bit on that now. I just took out a 123 Lite account, which was dead easy. They should give you a quote before you get an account.I'm paying £316 per month for a V90 T4 R-Design on 10k miles. However the prices on the Volvos have gone up, and I think the same car is now around £350 per month.

I actually really like both white and Osmium so tough decision. Although I imagine the osmium will keep a bit better as its higher quality paint but ill see DrewPeacock said:

Yeah its available to anyone with a Santander 123 account as another user said so even if its not your main account you could just open one up. Heres the link to the "headline deals" https://www.santanderconsumer.co.uk/123contracthir... 18 months no deposit £349 p/m for an S90 D4 R Design. When we order/get our one ill try post in here to let you know how smoothly it goes. Thanks

I didn’t pay for any options. Went for pine grey (metallic paint). Metallic paints were free of charge. Really happy with choice of colour. I was deciding between pine grey and saville grey.
