My beard expands with Volvo knowledge.

Seems like the first S90s were built in Gothenburg, but production has now indeed moved to China.

The V90 is still Swedish made.

Quite cool that they travel by train all the way from China to Zeebrugge, but it does nothing for the waiting times!
Having just spoken this morning to Volvo, they don't think that it's cool at all (anymore than I do).

"If we'd known then what we know now, we'd never have made that decision".

Anyway, the delays are not all down to the rail journey.

A shambles.
It was supposed to drastically reduce the shipping time, but im guessing its not!!
Indeed.

However, dealer/Volvo communication has been crap too.

I've switched my S90 order to a V90 to overcome the risk of ongoing delay.
A wise move.

I'm actively looking at alternatives now too.

The biggest issue for me is that the manufacturer is keeping the dealers in the dark. Updates are via the 'system'. Dealers are blind to delays until the system updates and they then have to deliver the kick in the nuts to their customers. I've a feeling this is going to hit Volvo if they don't reign it in.
I quite agree.

I've just had pretty much that conversation with the sales manager of the dealer concerned.

The system they have access to is completely inadequate and is not updated contemporaneously.

It doesn't really help to know that I am not alone!

I knew all along that there were delivery issues with the S90 but didn't expect the blatant deceit and lies from a main dealer.

When I spoke to the sales manager on the 24th, I did suggest that I would not be averse to a change to a V90 of the same spec and will certainly press this harder now.

What was a shock was when the sales manager said that delivery issues would be just the same for a V90!

He was not aware that they were built in different countries!!!

A total shambles and I am beginning to wish that I'd stayed with Mercedes....

That doesn’t stack up for me the sales manager must know where the cars are built, I think it more likely he didn’t want you to swop the order.

I am in the process of drafting a very strongly worded communication to the dealer principal, voicing my frustration and anger.

Sales Manager who did not know the source of the cars said he had only been with the franchise a few weeks.

Still very poor!

I would change dealers but then I am at the back of the queue again.

I need a car asap....

I would certainly hope so...

My faith in the dealer; in Volvo and sadly in the S90 itself has been rather badly dented.

Really disappointed.

Watch this space.

Shock of shocks....

I sent my e mail last night to the managing principal setting out my grievances and await his response....

And at 5.30 this evening I get a phone call from the sales manager.

My car has miraculously appeared in the showroom and I am now promised delivery next weekend!

I don't really believe it!

I still expect a good response from the MD though.

Now I'm excited again....

S 90 R Design in Osmium Grey. D4 Auto.

Standard but with front parking sensors; rear camera and Park Pilot.

I am hoping it comes with a CD player but am not clear on this...my fault for not checking when I ordered it.

All so long ago.....!

Although I am delighted the car is now here, I remain disappointed with the performance of Volvo and the dealer.

There seems to be no communication at all between them whatsoever.

Still waiting for a response from the Dealer Principal.....

ISTR you ordered from the same place as me?

If so, think yourself lucky; I ordered mine a month or so before you and it's still not here!

Still, at least yours has arrived now and I hope you enjoy it.

ETA - you are correct regarding communication. The system the dealers have access to is woeful with little to no information on it. To get any real updates, they have to call an internal Volvo department called "supply". Until you press them to do this, they just sit on their hands and do bugger all.

That’s excellent news, odd timing though!

I got mine a few days ago, it was a stock order so delay was all mine! Excellent car for the most part. Something mentioned above - CD player is optional.

Called in to the dealer on Friday evening just to actually check that the car was definitely with them. Call me suspicious but I have been bitten too many times.

Confirmed and will pick it up next weekend once they have installed the park pilot and front sensors, etc.

No CD.

I certainly have not seen an option anywhere to specify one on the S90... there is on the XC90 and XC60 as far as I recall but not mine......maybe I missed it. Ah well, not a game changer.

Looking forward to getting behind the wheel now.

Still awaiting a response from the Dealer Principle despite the sales manager saying he thought that he had responded.....

Not good for customer/ dealer relationships....

Sorry, Whoami.

Yes I think we did order from R.C. Around the same time.

My original car isn't due until June, as I understand it.

When I was told the delivery date that I needed in March was going to be put back to June, I flipped my lid and the salesman that I was using managed to find another car that was due in the UK in January and was of the same spec.

I took over that car and that would seem to explain how I have jumped ahead of you.

Really sorry!

I haven't finished in my complaint process yet though......

Hope yours suddenly appears like mine did!

Are you local to the dealer?

You can retrofit park pilot (automatic parking)?! Any idea of the cost?

I already have front/rear sensors and 360/BLIS, so hopefully it has most of the hardware needed...

Not sure but dealerships do routinely fit parking sensors.

From what I understand from the dealer, they can and they do fit the front sensors and the Park Pilot Assist at the dealership.

I was totally surprised by this when I was told as I imagined it would all be done at the time of build....

Not sure of the price or it can be done by the dealer after delivery. Can't see any reason why not though.

Worth asking....

Further update at the weekend!
