You're allowed to stand in a space and reserve it?

Does anyone happen to have an idea on cost of what they would charge for the 5 panels that are damaged?
Just trying to work out if I need to get it done before they collect (which was supposed to be this week/next week)

No the opposite, I misread, I meant its not allowed.

God knows how a parking space at a zoo can turn into you being sat in their car while having your eyeballs poked out though

I was purely trying to get him to not drive away.
I opened his passenger door and he started reversing so I jumped in rather than risking being hit. 'Hindsight' I think they call it.

BVRLA say £135/panel

The perp should be paying for this - did you get his reg?

I would definitely be taking it further, but maybe perp will claim self defence...

I got his reg and gave it to the police but they haven't even assigned a officer for it yet.

I know it's his word against mine but he doesn't have a mark on him and yet I have a chunk missing out of my arm and one buggered eye.
Yes, I shouldn't have gotten in the car but it was a split decision thing so it is what it is.

Agreed in that position with the door open and the car reversing you would jump in
Why did you have the door open was that after the keying?

This all happened way after he keyed my car. I didn't know until I got back to the car.

He tried to get away from me/the manager so I tried to stop him as I was calling the police.

This. It's likely he'll try to say he was threatened by your behaviour.

Turn it around, if a shouty stranger jumped in your car, you'd assume they were trying to carjack or otherwise harm you. I'm not saying what he did was right. You're on pretty shaky ground though.

Not necessarily
If the door is open, youre standing there, the car reverses, you dont have much choice but to jump in
That's after the car has been keyed of course
what happened before it was keyed?

What happened to his mum?
Was she in the back seat?

On topic my October 18 V90 had a software update last week after a major strop/meltdown and the gearbox is a billion times better

Cheers

Before it was keyed? His mum was standing in the space trying to reserve it.
He keyed the car, I then confronted him and he tried to drive away..

We could do with a youtube video from the people in the car opposite or at least a line sketch of his mum standing in the space and him appearing from somewhere to key the car and possibly a new thread smile

Sorry to hear about it though frown

Generally (look on google) police arent interested in car keyings as they dont know who it was and it does nothing for their clear up statistics
If you have someone banged to rights, it ought to be a useful report.

TBH whenever I see anyone 'reserving' a space in a car park they are unlikely to be the kind of person I would go for a pint with let alone have in the contacts of my phone. Consequently any interaction with said pond life is likely to be unsatisfactory as you have discovered.

I can imagine your assailant was probably the type who loves his mum and so any perceived threat to her - and Im assuming it was somewhere on a scale from a polite request from you to move through to ramming speed, full ahead both please midships - would have enraged him.

And similarly no way would I have got into his car.

Im not making excuses for his actions, purely suggesting you had a direct hand in how things played out.

Good luck.

CPS Charging standards for assault would make it a common assault unfortunately, and a criminal damage of course.

Nuts, isn’t it. However, we haven’t seen the missing pound of flesh...not that I want to!

Isnt common assault, criminal damage and some suitable victim compo enough?
or maybe just a caution and the last?

I have to say, I've never seen this behaviour out in the wild.
