The Volvo S90/V90 lease thread
Discussion
Can confirm it has worked.
It's just nice I guess to have the app showing all the current playing info etc on the console screen. Clearly though it's a bit of a gimmick and it'll be much better just using my phone and streaming from there.
I've had a go with Pilot Assist on the way home in a traffic jam which was mildly disconcerting. And the hands free boot release is a bit hit and miss but I'm sure with a bit of practice I'll get it!
Overall, it's a lovely piece of kit. Very handsome. And very enormous! I parked next to an old Clio at the office and it just looked ridiculous, I'm sure parking is going to be a lot of fun

Is there functionality to connect the car to home WiFi then download a load of songs to listen to without having to stream the data?
Ajg, did yours come with a preloaded SIM? I have a vodafone one with 100GB data, don't know if that means 100GB per year or if that's a total amount that will just run down. Any ideas?

Don’t think so. No storage capacityAjg, did yours come with a preloaded SIM? I have a vodafone one with 100GB data, don't know if that means 100GB per year or if that's a total amount that will just run down. Any ideas?
I just use my downloaded playlists from my phone set all my tracks to shuffle then skip tracks using the steering wheel controls

I think it did - when not connected to my phone yesterday it went through 90MB of data, so I assume there must be a sim somewhere. Behind the rear seats I think I read somewhere? With regards to streaming on my phone, I don't do enough miles for it to be a problem, but as I said earlier the phone interface is definitely easier to use, even though the Sensus system is quick and responsive. My boss who has a new Discovery has said it's much snappier than the JLR system.
Anyway, now I've found how to turn the auto wipers on and have discovered it doesn't lock itself when you walk off (I don't know why I thought it did). There are several reasons this would be a bad idea apparently. And almost there with the foot-waving boot opening!
Does anyone know much about Pilot Assist? What makes the car decide whether or not it will steer (green icon)? And is it supposed to start itself up again if it's stopped in traffic once the lead car has moved? I was told it was great for traffic jams but it just stood still yesterday when other cars moved off. Maybe it's good for motorways and other well-marked roads only?

To resume on both PA and ACC after being stopped, press the up button on the LH steering wheel buttons.
The rain sensing wiper on off switch.
I only found mine by accident about 3 months after owning it.
It's on the wiper stalk (funny that) the flat part similar to where you turn the fog lights on on the opposite light stalk. I just thought it was a generic picture of wipers till i pressed it without the handbrake on and it lit the same image up on the dash.

Took delivery of new v90 yesterday, very happy indeed so far.
Anyone got any tips for gadgets to use? The guy delivering it gave me a quick tour of the digital system but it seems like there's tons of toys to play with.
The Owners Manual App has a video section which is very useful when familiarising yourself with the tech features. Anyone got any tips for gadgets to use? The guy delivering it gave me a quick tour of the digital system but it seems like there's tons of toys to play with.

Yes the "squint or you'll miss it" icon on the dash! Took me a while to see it even though I could tell the rain sensing was engaged.Just discovered though it can hustle along when you ask it to. I thought it was actually slower than my 15 year old Aero but once the gearbox wakes up, which is a bit dimwitted, it can take off fairly well, especially for just the base T4 engine. Fuel economy at the moment is laughable but I think on a couple of runs I'll have a better idea of what I can expect because so far I've done about 40 miles of very short journeys. Best I've got was on B roads using the adaptive cruise and was about 29mpg which I can live with.

Been quoted £340 for the first service, in fking Dundee! Dundee!
I assume that's main dealer. As I recall my contract says it must be serviced and maintained 'according to manufacturer's guidelines'. Is that defined anywhere? The broker I spoke with said an indy would be fine as long as they used genuine parts, haven't made my mind up yet what I'll do though if I can get it done properly at a good independent for 200 compared with 340+ (I'm in Surrey) then it's tempting.
Look at https://bookmygarage.com enter a Swindon postcode e.g. SN5 8UY and observe the Waylands Volvo prices (£145 for an oil service). Given that they’ll presumably provide a stamp I can’t see why it wouldn’t be enough to satisfy the lease requirements?

Contract I have specifies it has to be at a franchised dealer. As I recall my contract says it must be serviced and maintained 'according to manufacturer's guidelines'. Is that defined anywhere? I paid £249 for mine at Rybrook Volvo in Warrington. Initially quoted me £280 but when I said that’s steep, he came back and said £249 was the best they could do. £340 is a blatant rip off! ajguk said:
