My local stealer (dealer i mean), qouted me £509 for a second service, as i chose to extend my vehicle pass the 24 mnth mark, due to the 3 months extention, i made the choice to do this as I dont have another car sorted.

I have a second service price from Halfords at £250, if i proceeded with Halfords, whats the worst that can happen? a £100 penalty from Volvo for not using a volvo dealer?

£350 is still cheaper than £509!

My service clock is also now showing "service overdue", so think they will charge me that £100 anyway, whether volvo or not.

Up to £300 for a service, in my books is reasonable, but at £509, they're taking the proverbial.

^^^^ exactly why the 18 month deal was popular. Lovely car but yearly servicing at £300/500 is somewhat unusual these days

Can anyone remember how many days before the service is due the reminder comes up? (V90 CC) I’ve been searching around and I can’t find a definitive answer. Mine was serviced September 30th last year and is being early returned on the 31st of July. I’m hoping it isn’t a 2 month warning as was hoping to avoid the 2nd service altogether.

agreed, the way i saw it was at 244 a month that i was paying for this V90 D5, i am getting a 3 months extension for the price of 1, so the money saved here, will go towards the second service and i get to keep it for another 3 months.

Looking back, its mainly been sat on the drive anyway since March!

Exciting news!

My old car had been sat from early May in a compound but today drove to the other end of the country and is for sale with a main dealer for a price that would have me sobbing if I'd bought it and PX'd for less. Much less probs

Annual servicing seems a bit archaic too!

Gave notice to Santander last week. By the end of the week, BCA had called me and attached collection on 14th August. The only fly in the ointment is that I need to buy separate insurance for it to sit there unused for the next two weeks.

If the Halfords is within 5 miles, Volvo will match the quote.

Not my local! After much back and forth, managing to bring it down from £509 to £400, and swallowed the bitter pill.

It is stated Volvo policy from their own website:

"We will also match any like for like written quote for a Volvo Service using the correct oil and Volvo genuine parts from any garage within 5 miles."

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/own/maintenance/servi...

If they are not honouring this, I would be getting onto Volvo head Office.....!!

Thanks for that, Halfords stated they use OE parts, not volvo parts, also on the Halfords invoice, it states BOSCH for most parts, I still have a case?

As I don't believe Volvo make their own oil, oil filters, spark plugs etc then, yes, I would think so.
There are numerous examples on the general leasing thread and this thread of Volvo price matching Halfords (my garage matched my Halfords quote in April for the 12-month service at £220). Sounds more like your local franchise just trying it on.

Wow, thanks for that info mate, really surprised why they point blanked refused to price match. I will continue to service at the agreed £400 for now given its booked in, and take this up with Volvo via a strong email later, this way i can sort my recalls out and few other warranty covered glitches as well without the bad atmosphere. Sneaky lot they are!

Very similar situation here only on an S60, went back in May, now ended up at a Volvo dealership all the way in Edinburgh, has only done 1 mile since it left me (did have half a tank of fuel but now showing low fuel, maybe drained it for storage???). Think it was around £33k list price, I only paid £5k in lease payments but it is up for only £13.5k! Someone has lost a chunk somewhere. Would have been tempted to buy it back at that if I hadn’t got a great deal on a V60.

The discounts on these cars are *massive*. I can pretty much guarantee that even at a rock bottom second hand price, at least some profit is being made.

My V90 Cross Country went back at the beginning of April. I haven't seen it for sale anywhere, even on Mannheim and BCA auction listings, and it's showing as untaxed so I assume it hasn't quietly been sold. Still keep searching, wondering how much it'll be advertised for.

Santander have messed up my final billing - I terminated on June 26 but I just had my full payment taken by direct debit. Weirdly, they sent me the correct invoice so the system should know the right final payment to take.

My CC is still sitting up north somewhere and gets started every couple of days. Based off other prices, I expect it will retail for around £30k, which is a huge amount of depreciation. Glad I only paid £5k to drive it around for 18 months!

Coincidentally Santander have taken my final payment today - the amount is correct. It should have been taken in April, though!

I hope they don't take 4 more payments from me!
