You don't have to accept it.
You can get a written quote from any garage within 5 miles and ask Volvo to price match it.
There is plenty of discussion about it in this thread.
Got it down by calling them. £87 less than the website so that's ok and it needs to go in for recall anyway so saves 2 trips to 2 different places

I'm also here as my V90 is due it's the first service in mid-September. The car will have only done 6000 miles by that time but my lender is Santander, so do I just have to accept the +/- £300 fee that Volvo charge for the first service, or as another user has stated, try somewhere else?
Mine was serviced at 6000 miles by a volvo dealer. They did an adjusted service due to low mileage £159 it cost me.

In non-Covid, non-servicing related news-today I discovered that you can move the buttons around on the “car function” screen. Only took me 11 months.

Really? Why would you do that anyway?

I didn't know, and I had an 18 month lease and now a few months into a 2 year lease... rolleyes

I can see a point to it, for example moving an app or function that you rarely or never use into a new row that is off the bottom of the visible screen thus leaving the apps or functions you do use easier to find in a less cluttered space.

If you do need the moved app at some point you can still scroll down to the new lines.

Still probably better to learn how to use the voice control really well and suppress the self conscious feeling of being a bit of a knob about using it.

All the buttons actually fit on one screen if you fill the gaps that Volvo put on to group the functions.
So this got rid of the need to scroll down.
Also I can put my favourite button (switching between adaptive and normal cruise) in an easy to reach place.
Tbh the only other button I use is the wiper position so that’s next to it.

You have to save the profile to keep them there though.

My V90 was picked up this morning. The guy spend about 20 minutes examining and photographing the car. I had kept it in generally good condition, but both wheels were kerbed on the passenger side; they let me off for one of them, and charged me £60 for the other. Pretty happy with that!

Farewell Volvo ownership, it was enjoyable. The V90 was excellent. The only things I could reasonably have wanted was a bit more grunt (maybe the more powerful petrol or diesel version is better) and a bit better economy - finished on 33.5mpg average over 20,500 miles.

When I collected my car from the first service in July I noticed some bits of plastic in the passenger footwell, I didn't think too much of it. Since then there's been a bit of a rattle in the previously-rattle-free interior. This morning I noticed some more plastic in the footwell, it was very obviously a sheared trim clip...

On closer inspection the panel that provides access to the cabin filter was hanging down, it's missing a screw and two of the clips have been snapped off. It's flapping about held on only by the one remaining screw.

I've let the dealership know and they've ordered a replacement from Sweden. Not really what you expect when Volvo are charging £300+ for an oil change, it's amusing that main dealer servicing is so cherished by secondhand car shoppers.

Feeling a bit sorry for my old car

It was stored for three months before hitting Volvo Selekt where it's festered for three weeks and has just had a grand shaved off asking

Unlike the fabulous orange 8 series on another thread it's plain Jane Osmium with a sensible interior although it's a T4 not a diesel. But as all the cheap leases were petrols surely not alone?

My Golf R (another cheap lease) seemed to take ages to sell, it went through several BCA auctions without selling before ending up with a medium sized trader who took about 6 months to move it on. It was a 2y/o 20k car in perfect cosmetic condition, I'm a little surprised it can take so long to go from a lease return to a new owner. I guess there's a glut of anything that's popular with leasers after a couple of years.

Anyone who has leased through Santander had issues with their payment holiday?

Mine ended this month and Santander contacted me to ask if I was ok to resume payments. I said it was fine to start taking them and thanked them for their generous offer.

One thing 10 days after my payment was due to come out it still hasn’t. Anyone else’s not been taken?

So how much does the Dynamic / Normal / ECO mode affect fuel usage? I can feel a difference in driving performance between the 3 and if I remembered then I would use ECO on longer journeys, thinking it would help with fuel usage.

Had a trip recently, 2 days in a row, pretty much exactly the same route each day and time of day. On the first day I forgot about ECO, but used it for both trips on the second day. Result: (it's an S90 T4 btw, about 1600 miles on clock)

Duration Distance (miles) Fuel consumption (gallons)
Day 1 on Normal
01:01 h 54.260 1.344
01:10 h 54.912 1.322

Day 2 on ECO
01:06 h 54.265 1.344
01:08 h 54.916 1.302

So it doesn't seem to make much if any difference to the fuel consumption ??? Though how accurate is it anyway?

I don't find much difference if I drive the same, but just use the different modes. If you floor it, it senses the override switch ( which also overcomes the limiter) and gives you full power anyway.
What I found made most difference was going in eco mode, then when you are accelerating gently, changing up manually as early as possible.
37mph to 7th, 43mph for 8th, etc.

Anyone replaced tyres yet?
What have you gone for?
I found the Michelin Primacy 3 that it was supplied with OK, being not very low profile, ( 245/45/18) they let you know before they are going to lose grip ( as does the software) but they haven't lasted as long as I thought they would, Fronts are down to 3mm at 16k miles, and most of that is spent at GPS 70 on the motorway. Rears still on 5.

Hoping not to change again and planning on 40k.
Previous cars have seen well over 20k on the fronts, sometimes 30, and up to 50k on the rears.

Anyone ever had an 'auto hold service required' message?

It happened once within the last year and in the past 2 days it's appeared 3/4 times. Every time I can get it working again just be stopping and restarting the car.

Yes, I have this issue now. Repeats every time I start the car. At the same time that started I also have an airbag warning message. Neither have cleared so have booked it in at the dealer next week.

I had the airbag warning light issue on my V90 CC T5. Had to book it in as they said they needed to remove the seats due to a dodgy connection. They had the car for three days (I was supplied a hire car by Volvo UK) and when it came back fixed, they said it was solved by updating the software, and seemed incredulous that I suggested they wanted to remove the seats for a connection!

I expect the airbag issue for you will also be software but will be interested to see what they tell you!

I applied for the deferment today which was approved. No brainer particularly with the lack of deals around at the moment. Gives me a few more months to save for a decent upfront payment. I'm probably going to go for a XC90 T8.

Hi all,

The 3 year lease on my auto Mazda 6 estate (Santander) expires in early December, and I am seriously considering a V60 or V90 over three years, Auto again.

Anyone know of any better deals with a reliable mainstream company, not some fly by night operation? smile
