My V90 CC went back this week. I ended up getting an extra month free at the end as they forgot to contact me to collect it. No extra charges even though I didn't get the reversing camera option.

Only managed 12k miles over 22 months but lots of that was motorway and A road driving where the comfy seats and pilot assist made things very easy. I'll miss it lot.

So my question - am I only liable to get it serviced after the 83 days expire or when the message appears 30 days prior? If it’s when the service message comes on then I’d look to get it collected the week prior (so 3rd - 9th May) to avoid that but if it’s only when the date has expired I won’t need to be as rushed.
Service is not due until the 83 days expire

Do I just ring Volvo Financial services to arrange collection (I ordered it through a main dealer who, when they rang to ask if I was wanting another lease through them, told me they don’t deal with returns)?
Yes - ring VFS

They won’t match Halfords IME because (despite Halfords claims) it’s not like for like. Useful as a haggling tool though. I posted my experience a few months ago in this thread.
Depends on the garage possibly.
I had my 1st service done at a Volvo garage, matching the £220 quote from Halfords.

st. Just went through my bank statements. Looks like over the lease I only paid 14 monthly payments this means I owe them 1 monthly and 3 half monthly payments from handing the car back early.

Grand total £787.40p. Enormous kick in the nuts!
By way of an update eventually sorted it with Santander today, turned out I owed £387 so worse than I I initially thought but only half what i calculated after speaking to them last week.

So I cancelled my V90 6 months early and it was collected middle of last month. They quoted me essentially 3 months rental PLUS VAT to return it early which had me a bit confused as VAT should be included in the rental cost but I just accepted it.

Today I paid up to close out the account and what I actually had to pay was less than half the £1100 they originally quoted!

Thank Santander. Not sure what has happened but...

My Santander V90CC has just been collected and I'm extremely sad to see it go, its been an excellent car for the 21 months I've had it and I couldn't fault it, or Santanders customer service.

Value wise it has to be one of the deals of the century, a 50k motor for £275 a month and then throw in 3 months free extension thanks to Santanders offer during the first lockdown and it amortises to just £235 a month for luxurious trouble free motoring. I was actually determined to keep it for the extra 6 months I had been offered but I spotted a good deal on a car I've always wanted, a E Class Cabriolet which was too good to risk not taking it and hoping something similar would pop up over the next 6 months.

For anyone still waiting for theirs to be collected, the inspectors being used by Santander are Mannheim and they are thorough! My car was immaculate and after a couple of minutes he tried to tell me he would have to abort the inspection due to a nail in the rear tyre. I had a look and he pointed out a tiny tiny tack right in the centre of the tread. I wasn't accepting that and 20 seconds with a screwdriver and I no longer had a nail in my tyre!

He then carried out the inspection and reported minor scratches on the drivers door sill plate and one tiny stone chip on the bonnet, in his words, just to prove he had carried out the inspection and neither item was chargeable. Overall, its been a fantastic leasing experience from start to end, and I'm very glad I didn't buy it for list price 21 months ago as I'd have lost somewhere in the region of £30k based on current used values !!!

I've got a V90 R-Design Pro which I took on an 18mth deal with Santander (1+17 @ £378), I got the COVID 3mth extension and this means it's due back towards end of this year. Really like the car and haven't seen any better deals about lately - does anyone have any experience as to whether Santander offer competitive extension deals? How soon can you lock these in - is it better to do early (I have about 5mths left) or leave it till closer to end of contract?

My V90 T4 R-Design goes back soon.

Does anyone need any fitted window shades, like these: https://www.carshades.co.uk/shades-volvo-estate-fu... - open to offers.

Also have a bootliner available - open to offers.

I'm based in Lancashire, as I won't want to post the bootliner.

As an aside, has anyone had issues with tyres on returning. The PCH agreement simply states that tyres need to be legal. Both front tyres are at 2.5mm after 17k miles, however one is worn more on the shoulder and needs replacing. Thinking I may get away with just doing one, and the cheapest possible crap going - anyone get picked up on this at return?

Thanks.

Does the shoulder have visible tread? Would it pass an MOT?

My V90CC T5 through Santander was due back last Nov. I got 3 months free and took the informal extension, so it's now due back mid Aug. Before Covid I was told you could go up to 28 days over the contract length for around £10 per day. Will this still be the case?

I was trying to secure an EV lease to avoid the 2nd service but it didn't go through. I figured I will suck up the 2nd service but try and run the car as long as possible, which if I'm allowed the 28 days will be mid Sept. This is useful as my insurance renews end Sep so less messing about with that.

Also what's the cheapest anyone has been quoted for 2nd service. Most are tickling £500 for me.

Oddly I received a call while at work today from the dealer I used for 1st service. They quoted £432.17. I did look online a while back and am sure they were all nearer the £500 mark.

It is bang on the wear indicators on the inner shoulder, so probably not.

I've booked my collection with Manheim today via the online form and spotted this. Is this everyone's experience with a Manheim collection so far:

Desired Appointment Date:
Please enter the appointment date you desire. Refer to your email to see what our next available date is.

COVID-19: Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we are now completing deferred collections. This means we will inspect your vehicle on one day, with collection taking place up to two working days later by our preferred collection agent. Both the Inspector and collection agent will provide their own estimated times for arrival. Once the vehicle has been inspected, you are no longer insured to drive it. The keys will be sanitised and bagged, before being returned to you to store in a safe place until the collection.

Only the central 75% of the tyre needs 1.6mm. Tread only needs to be visible on the rest.

So much for customer service!!!

Firstly they expect you to be available over two if not three days to wait for them and then you have a car you cant drive but presumably need to keep insured for theft?

I was one of the Santander posse and my car went back in the first Covid lockdown on the planned last day of contract. There were some less fortunate and I recall they were very well looked after and given the option of using the car up until it was eventually collected or if they either had another car coming or just wanted rid leaving it in a secure place and cancelling insurance and Santander then insured it. By safe place I dont think anyone left it in the street as most were lucky enough to have driveways - this is PH after all smile

So I'd make a bit of mild fuss if I were you

Cheers

My car was collected a few weeks ago by BCA but taken to Mannheim Bristol, there was no additional procedure for COVID, all done in one day. The kid that collected it was the least thorough of the three lease returns I’ve now been through.

I’ve had no contact from Santander, it went through auction at the highest condition grade. Which was a relief as it had an eventful couple of years with me... I hit a deer, a passenger opened one of the rear doors onto a wall they hadn’t seen and folded the edge over, my wife misjudged our driveway and scraped one side against a wall and I added a few long scratches whilst rubbing past some bushes during an ill-advised attempt at green-laning. All of the above was repaired or touched up before return, but could be spotted if you knew where to look.

Mine is being inspected/collected on Monday.
I requested the date online, but then had a phone call to confirm it.

I don't know yet if it will just be an inspection on Monday, or if they are taking the vehicle then.
I do not intend to allow it to be kept on my driveway after Monday if they do not collect it then. My new car arrives the same day and I don't have the additional space available!
