My V90 R Design has just been delivered, it has front sensors...wonder what else it has that it shouldn't?

Unfortunately I had to just grab the keys and dash out to an appointment, stunning looking car, really surprised how smart it is.

Looking forward to having a play later.
All cars 'look' like they have front sensors - but not all of them are wired up. I don't have front sensors on mine but the little dots at the front are there.

Just missed out on a bursting blue s90, was originally after a v90 but they all went very quickly. The blue s90 would have been a nice compensation as they look stunning in that colour. Been offered a bright silver one but doubt it will look anywhere near as striking as the bursting blue, gutted.

I wonder how many people have driven into a parking space wondering why the sensors didn't beep as they hit the wall in front of them?

Surely the accident prevention auto-braking should kick in? It strikes me as amazing that they have active cruise, pilot assist etc as standard but not front parking sensors. You’d think they would be part of the necessary electronics.

I was charged for the front park assist (sensors wired up), couple of hundred quid on the MY18 D5 I have on order. It was an extra on the vehicle and Neva wanted more money for it, didn’t have a choice but useful to have, so didn’t complain and agreed to the extra 6 or 7 quid a month.

As we all know Volvo saw sense in making it a standard feature on the MY19.

Neva also tried to charge me for metallic but kicked up a fuss (with a sales manager) about how there is so much discrepancy between advertised rates and quotes for the same spec (second similar foul experience with them), apparently Volvo were going to swallow the cost for metallic ‘on this occasion’ if I ordered one right away (salesman honesty?), which I did as the numbers were good.

244 x 23 on 8k with 9 down

I think it worked out 17% of the 46k list price.

Would never have considered a Volvo but soupdragon’s review sold it to me. Definitely a step up from the Vw alltrack.

Picked my V90 up recently. D4 R-Design in Osmium - also has actual front parking sensors!

Put about 500 miles on it now and really impressed. Exceptionally comfortable and quiet far more composed on rough roads than the reviews make out. Sure its a bit of a barge and certainly isnt 'dynamic' but it makes a decent amount of grip and covers ground on a twisty road better than id expected.

Pilot assist is very very impressive tech and is very useful and relaxing especially in 50 average zones. Box can be slow to respond (paddles dont make much difference) but its very smooth in use.

Tech wise the Sensus thing is fine, managed to get it so it automatically tethers to my phone via bluetooth internet which is handy so spotify can be immediately accessed - Nav works well and its nice having the map between the clocks too.

Still lots to learn and get used to but so far im very very happy with it.

Drag down menu
Settings -> Communications -> Bluetooth settings

Turn on Bluetooth internet.

That way as soon as you get in the car and the bluetooth connects it also connects to the internet. I think its an iPhone 6 i have.

The Alltrack was a good car in it's own right and I quite liked the rugged look of it. The Volvo is better looking again, and the interior is a really nice upgrade too. Tft dash and sensus screen give it a much more modern feel too and it feels a more special place to be overall. I definitely have a different feeling getting into the Volvo- and the fact I'm constantly wanting to keep it clean tells a story in itself smile

Interesting comments on the driving dynamics of the v90. I did have the s90 for a couple of days and I would say there is a marked difference between the 2. The s90 is a bit more nimble when negotiating small roundabouts and the like and it hides it's weight and size a bit better than the v90. I would still pick the v90 due to the overall practicality of it, but the s90 is the one to go for if driving dynamics are important. I find myself just cruising around in eco mode most of the time now, a bit like when I had a Jaguar S Type a couple of cars ago. It's a car that likes to cruise around and has a nice graceful feeling behind the wheel.

I had the car safety features intervene for the 1st time last week. Was on the motorway on cruise control - very busy traffic and only doing 45 mph ish. I had the gap on intermediate setting which is roughly the standard 2 second gap. Large white van in front slammed on the brakes. I went to hit the brakes but the car beat me to it. Probably half a second quicker than me as when my foot hit the brake, it felt like it wasn't doing anything as the car had already taken over - very weird feeling. And the seat belts. My god, I thought I was getting strangled, as if someone in the back seat pulled my belt as hard as they could - it was almost hard to breathe it was so tight!

I think I would have managed alright on my own, as the gap in front was big enough and the brakes are pretty good on the car. It's still good to know everything works as it should though and one thing for sure, when it comes to a situation like this, the cars reaction is always going to be quicker than a human. Not only for recognising the car in front is getting closer, but how it can calculate the severity of it's braking plus the physical act of moving your foot over to the brake pedal. The car can do all that in an instant. Impressive when you see it in action.

Well it’s took a lot of ringing round, emailing and generally annoying dealers and brokers but I’ve managed to secure an S90.

Despite missing out on the original great deals on limited cars I have got something I’m pretty happy with.

Osmium grey with rear camera, £1750 initial, £233 month, 2 year deal, 8k per annum.

A lot of car for the money, peanuts really for what you get.

I don't think it works at speeds below 2mph so don't count on that stopping you if you're parking

Try Karen Allen at Mills Volvo
They initially had the 2k down 209 a month v90 redesign with winter pack offer, that boat might have sailed but see what she can get for you.

OR

Marshall’s Volvo - ask for the business sales manager , he can scan and secure from the Volvo uk network but be warned the standard d4’s are gone, some high spec ones left, might be worth negotiating as they need them registered by end of June. 01707 862753

I got my D5 from Neva Direct as the dealers couldn’t match the numbers.

That’s not very safe of Volvo - encouraging us to barrel into parking spaces at speed laugh

Congrats on the baby! Was exactly in same boat, mrs had baby nearly 2 weeks ago. I just missed out on all the v90 deals. As someone else mentioned there are higher spec cars available.
As for the S90 think there are silver ones left with various spec, or higher spec cars but obviously a lot dearer.
