Hi
No matter what price you are paying I was showed email from Volvo at the dealership saying no headlamp washer jets and only 19 inch wheels so please give buyer a £350 refund by cheque
When I collected car a cheque was given to me on the day from Volvo uk
I ordered mine in February 2018 with discount etc... total price was £36,460 on the road excluding the £350

We collected ours today!

We went for a amazon green T3 momentum with white pack and loads of extras.

Not had chance to drive yet (it’s the wife’s) but she is over the moon with it and the 1.5 engine is “nippy” (she came from a 1.8 Mk2 Mx5

Not seen any on the road yet and the dealer hadn’t sold one in this combo before or since.

Lovely colour combo Andy. I think we would have done the same but they didn’t offer it on the First Edition, so went for white/black.

I’ve only seen one other on the road and we’ve had ours since early March.

Enjoy!

We are waiting for ours same colour but T4 AWD and no white pack. Its for my dad and needed auto. Was due last week but pushed back till July now.

What are your thoughts on colour? Some pics of it look very pale. Saw that Amazon touring Scotland last week. Assume same colour!

They're not as good though! And only had it for just under a week, so I've not got that many yet.

Here's mine and another owners (he got the 20" wheels, mine is on 19")

The day I collected it:

If anyone is interested, we have just released our premium white D4 Auto First Edition demonstrator for sale. Given that the FE's are sold out, you could potentially be in this car before the end of next week. P.M if you wish.

The XC40 has caught my eye as a possible next car, are there any options that people have found to be surprisingly useful? Or surprisingly pointless?

This is what I'd probably be looking fot, wondering if anyones has any thoughts on it?

Early days yet. There is tonnes of standard stuff on the pro. We have all heated seats, heated steering wheel and smart phone intergration. Big one is the intellisafe pro, which works well but haven’t had a chance to fully test. The 18 inch wheels look really good and the centre caps have a detailed embossed logo which makes them look ‘premium’. The wheels don’t look poverty spec at all and car looks fine on them unlike JLR for example that need the bling wheels.

Your spec will be fine. I’m only a little sad the pass seat doesn’t have tilt adjustment as not electric,

I amended this post for people looking to order an XC40, I've mentioned the options that after 5 months of driving a fully loaded First Edition model I have found useful so far.

Hi, I've had my AWD D4 R Design FE for 5 months now and absolutely love the XC40, best new car I've ever had. I've covered 5k so far. If it helps here are some options that I don't use and some I personally could not do without so here goes. The Bliss blind spot feature is essential for me as the rear pillar is a big blind spot. Likewise the 360 cameras is absolutely essential and way more useful than just a rear camera. The active bending lights are a nice luxury on bends out of town but I can't see them being much use for town drivers. Active cruise control I use all the time and it cuts down on the daily grind. Sensus nav imo is essential as it is on all cars but I find the NAV graphics very basic & dull and somewhat rather blinding in white, I turn mine down to nightime to avoid the white glare. Don't see the point of my gear shift paddles, never used them as the 190 bhp & auto box is very capable. Headlight washers I could do without & just a fancy addition. I doubt if I'll ever use the rear heated seats either although my guests recently used them for novelty and found them very comforting. The sunroof I never use or even draw the blind back as the sun cooks my head.but the blind does let a little welcome light into the dark interior. The Harmon Kardon speakers are very capable, great clarity with deep rich sound, I've tried both the HK and standard speakers and the standard speakers are quite poor compared to the HK, no comparison in sound quality so my advice is if you have the car long term and can afford it go with the HK, it is an option you don't want to be without if you listen to music in the car. Add Apple Android Car Play, it's pricey but I find absolutely essential as the phones only bluetooth calls and not your music lists. Rather than use the interface on the move I prefer to access all of my music by voice command (as I do with most functions) but I can only do this by connecting to Siri through Carplay via the USB port which also charges the phone so the optional recharge tray is useless to me. Other essential options for me are the tinted rear windows that cut down UV & heat and the winter pack for the heated seats, heated steering wheel and front window which is lovely on cold days. Keyless entry and remote powered tailgate is a joy that I use absolutely every day .The memory powered seats to separate keys are really useful if there is likely to be two drivers, it cuts down on all the manual daily seat adjustments. On ordering I asked for the reversible textile rubber/carpet loading and boot mat & the tilting & safety guard that protects passengers from dogs and flying luggage to be thrown in with the deal. The clever guard tilts up to stay against the boot roof lining and out of the way when not in use. I'm currently thinking of polstar as in the default comfort mode my auto box can lag a little and on take off which it doesn't do in dynamic mode. Saying that it's minimal lag and not usually noticeable with my laid back driving. Good luck choosing your options, the XC40 really is the best car I've ever owned out of a long list of AMG Mercedes, Bmw's, Audi's & Porsche.

Bumping this thread. Considering an xc40 as possible replacement for my wife's Seat Leon, other options are the Skoda Karoq or Seat Ateca, and obviously a premium to pay for the xc40 although space and spec appear similar. Looking at the T3 FWD version, as while id love an AWD T5 it's a bit OTT for the purpose. The 1.5 engine seems a bit down on performance and economy compared to the VAG option on paper at least, but prefer the looks of the Volvo and just seems a bit more desirable.

Just a few questions:-
How are owners getting on with them, still happy with their choice, any significant issues to be aware of?
What's the 1.5 petrol like to drive, real world mpg?
How relaible are these newish Volvo's, and are the engines Ford? Not had many issues with recent VAG cars, plan would be to keep for 4/5 years.
Is there any plan to bring out a hybrid version in the next year or 2?
