Or those of us that tow wobble boxes.

I had an XC90 T8 for a weekend test drive. It was good, quick, comfortabel and spacious, everything I wanted.

THen after some digiging I found a tow review, once the batteries were empty, which was quick when towing, you are using a 300bhp petrol engine with attrocious economy of 15mpg.

Couple this with the fact that the fuel tank is only 50 litres (made smaller to accomodate the batteries) made me go for a diesel Superb in the end.
Eh?

Why not the diesel version of the XC90 or the XC60?

Both better towcars than the Superb and much better looking IMO.
Because company car.

I agree the XC90 diesel is a wonderful thing and would have been my preffered choice but the BIK killed it.

Also the Superb has huge amounts of interior space and the kit on it is huge.

The only thing I really didn't like about the current Volvo range is the lack of knobs for the climate control. Having to change temp on the touchscreen was a bit of a faff tbh.

Former Volvo owner here.

I want to like this car. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it drives well. But I cannot, in good conscience, buy a car from a Chinese owned company.

Most Chinese companies are, at least in part, state owned. This means that whenever you buy Chinese, you are supporting a brutal, totalitarian dictatorship with an appalling human right record. As much as I may like this car, I'm afraid Chinese ownership is a deal breaker.

Sorry, but Chinese Volvo is dead to me.
Or you're supporting a regime that has provided facilities for the population such as roads, high speed rail that's affordable and accessible to all
You're also supporting a regime that has single handedly lifted hundreds of millions of people out of utter poverty.

Depends which way you look at it. The media is happy to brainwash people like you by focusing on a tiny minority of cases Vs 1.something billion people who live in China.
After massacring 80-90 million living humans, uncountable forced abortions, erasing thousands of years of culture, forcing hundreds of millions into the most criminal social experiment in human history....yeah man, the few rail lines and bunch of highways were really worth the price. No, it does not matter from which angle you look at it. Mass genocide caanot be argumented with rail lines. Your ignorant, sociopathic arguments are reprehensible and offensive to half the plantet that had to endure the ideology that still guides that most grotesque regime. Shame on you!
the irony is that the devices we are using to post anti-china posts will have a lot of their components manufactured in China. Where do you draw the line in the china 'boycott'?
Good question...however these are not anti China posts, just truth served to marxist apologists. You may do what you please with your money, but as soon as you start using low budget arguments for genocide on a biblical scale you need some history lessons and a good look in the mirror.
On a scale of 1-100, my knowledge of China and its history is about 1 or 2. Just making people aware that China will touch a lot of things in our lives.
Too bad, a crying shame actually! Here something as an introduction to what inspired Chairman Mao.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0lv9Rjq44zA&t=0s...

After watching this and getting warmed up, you can start learning about mao's great leap forward.

The V60 is a gorgeous looking estate!
History isn't my thing to be honest. Link contains content that might be offensive so probably NSFW.

Damn right the murder of 150-200 Million people is offensive....just so you know who you are dealing with when you hear any Marxist collective Arguments especially such that Sound like tis :

"but, but ....there is a different viewpoint, the Marxist Regime built roads and raillines for the families left behind the hundreds of Millions of corpses".

Would probably do a lot of People some good to stop being so bloody ignorant.

Everyone is ignorant in subjects they know little about. If we were to talk about silver series panini sticker albums 1987-1988 I bet you would be pretty ignorant too smile

In all fairness it's not like other governments have squeaky clean reputations, Europeans murdered many, Americans Enslaved and displaced millions, I'm tempted to say their descendants are still suffering.

I've been to China a few times. If it was that bad the the people would be revolting. They ain't. In fact they're quite content with the way things are going. Are you suggesting that they are ignorant of their history too?

I'm all out of fks to be honest. V60 looks ace BTW

Without getting involved in the China argument, has anyone mentioned that the new S60 will be the first of the modern Volvo range that they will produce with no diesel engine option? Hooray!

Not really, in the first post I was talking strictly about China, in the second one about marxist communism ideologu as a whole. Mao was by far the biggest murderer in human history, closely followed by Stalin and Lenin.

Yes they are ignorant of their history...it has been erased from their books, that was the whole point of the cultural revolution and communism, to creat the New Man, the Communisat Man that does not question but submits happily to the party. You try revolting to against someone that has massacred 1/10th of your country when you have no guns and are unter surveilance your entire existance.

Yes others have murdered as well, but nowhere near the amounts that the socialists did (yes Hitler was a socialist as well) , and not their own populations. Japanese, the Ottomans, African tribes, the Arabs all did some evil stuff in their histories, but the ferocity size and scope of Marxist inspired massacres is by far the darkest stain in human history.

But according to some it was all worth it, lokk at the shiny new railway lines and the multi lane highways that wer built on top of the cadaves.

Jesus Christ. Do us all a favour and start a thread in NPE. The rest of us are trying to discuss a family estate car.

Had the pleasure of sitting in a few new volvos today at the ocean race in Cardiff bay

My word. Why the hell would anyone buy any BMW, Mercedes or Audi over a Volvo.

So beautiful inside and out, light and airy interior. The most comftable massaging seats I’ve ever sat in, beautify crafted with light leather and lovely wood inlays, all the kit you could ever want, so much safety tech and just so relaxing to be inside. The b&w stereo is like nothing I’ve ever heard in a car

Utterly brilliant

Imo Volvo will be a major player in the next 8-10 years.

They've found themselves an almost unique niche in the mid range car market, for the buyer who wants to be cool, but doesn't want to be seen 'trying' to be cool.

Like the dad at the sidelines of a kids football match. He's not going to chase stray balls and try and do a Ramona flick kick back to the players....but he secretly hopes the ball comes his direction so that he casually flicks it into the air with one foot, back heel volleys it with the other, all the while with his hands still in his pockets cool
