A full page of comments on a Volvo and nobody has considered how it drives? Are those of us that choose a car based on how it drives rather than how it looks a dying breed?
I mean, I wouldn't drive a SsangYong Rodius if it was the best handling car out there but the attractiveness of a car isn't really a primary concern for me and is obviously subjective.
I think there is a lean toward a demise in the people who care about how it drives, for one, all cars these days drive ok, some are brilliant but none a truly woefull at this level of car, and two, people are getting used to cars doing allot for you and removing some of the involvement.I mean, I wouldn't drive a SsangYong Rodius if it was the best handling car out there but the attractiveness of a car isn't really a primary concern for me and is obviously subjective.
On top of this there’s allot of talk about us not having to drive ourselves at all over the next decade.
PH will be the last place to change obviously but even so you can already see large amounts of people on here changing with regard to accepting ev automation.
How it drives will, of course, be of interest. But it may be of less interest than how it feels to sit in one. Is it comfortable? Is it relaxing on a 5-hour schlep between East Anglia and Wales with children in the back?
I look for particular things in a training shoe. But I look for other things when I shop for loafers. This is not a car for which Nürburgring times will matter.

Really? I don't know about the bigger 60/90 series, but we've currently got a V40 D4 (190bhp) as a courtesy car and that only emits 99g/km (so free VED band). Pretty impressive I'd say. And it goes like a stabbed rat - it's pretty quick, for what it is.
Go Volvo!
Not true if buying new for the D4 - £120 for the new ones after April 2017. £140 from then onwards.Go Volvo!
The D4 is okay having driven one, actually inside the car I prefer it to our V60 Polestar at higher load as it hides the 4 pot rattle. Outside though the Polestar sounds better than many other 4 pot cars (plus you get the supercharger whine at lower RPM's).

Viewed as a stylish, comfortable large hatchback/ 5 door shooting brake thingy, the current V60 makes some sense. Viewed as an estate, it just isn't as practical as a 3 series, C class or even a Focus. It fails Volvo's own washing machine test, for example.
That's an interesting point and thinking back to when we had the requirement for a pram and the associated guff that babies and toddlers require (or, to be honest, guff that the mothers of babies and toddlers require...) a V60 probably wouldn't have been ideal. Ours are 11 and 8 now though and we manage fine with it.

I'll be honest and say. Volvo are making great looking cars.
Neighbour has a new Volvo. It's a long big car..
I assume V90? Looks awesome mind you
I've liked where their styling has been going for years, but they have never quite matched what I was looking for at the time, if only they would make a RWD or rear biased AWD estate with nice handling and a powerful petrol engine in band F or less I might have one.Neighbour has a new Volvo. Former Volvo owner here.
I want to like this car. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it drives well. But I cannot, in good conscience, buy a car from a Chinese owned company.
Most Chinese companies are, at least in part, state owned. This means that whenever you buy Chinese, you are supporting a brutal, totalitarian dictatorship with an appalling human right record. As much as I may like this car, I'm afraid Chinese ownership is a deal breaker.
Sorry, but Chinese Volvo is dead to me.

You're also supporting a regime that has single handedly lifted hundreds of millions of people out of utter poverty.
Depends which way you look at it. The media is happy to brainwash people like you by focusing on a tiny minority of cases Vs 1.something billion people who live in China.
Definitely guilty of gushing over this new model, and the posters above are quite right that it might not suit in real life! I have registered my interest with Volvo and can't wait to try a demonstrator out - this would be the perfect replacement for my V70, as long as it's not cramped inside - without being quite the land yacht that the V90 is.
I'll be interested to see what they do with the S60, as I don't feel the design of the S90 works as well as the V90.
Anyway, here's the outgoing V60 compared to the new V60. Massive leap forward IMO.
