I want to like this car. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it drives well. But I cannot, in good conscience, buy a car from a Chinese owned company.
Most Chinese companies are, at least in part, state owned. This means that whenever you buy Chinese, you are supporting a brutal, totalitarian dictatorship with an appalling human right record. As much as I may like this car, I'm afraid Chinese ownership is a deal breaker.
Sorry, but Chinese Volvo is dead to me.
Damn, Lotus as well!I want to like this car. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it drives well. But I cannot, in good conscience, buy a car from a Chinese owned company.

So, using your rationale, out of principle you will also not:I want to like this car. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it drives well. But I cannot, in good conscience, buy a car from a Chinese owned company.

I can honestly say that I care not who owns a company. I care what the product is like?

Really? I don't know about the bigger 60/90 series, but we've currently got a V40 D4 (190bhp) as a courtesy car and that only emits 99g/km (so free VED band). Pretty impressive I'd say. And it goes like a stabbed rat - it's pretty quick, for what it is.
Go Volvo!
Yes, against BMW engines they're a mile behind when comparing like for like (190 bhp auto for example). Makes a big difference I your company car bill, especially when the list price is very close for a decent spec.

It looks nice outside (although they are processed photos so clearly will show the design in its best light) Inside it's OK I don't like the vertical tablet makes the dash look a bit upright and thin, I'd prefer a landscape one.
The Hybrid 400hp model is interesting if it has a decent electric range and not another hybrid with a token 30 mile range.

The XC90 T8 I had for a weekend test drive managed 17 miles on the battery. The Hybrid 400hp model is interesting if it has a decent electric range and not another hybrid with a token 30 mile range.
Couple that with a tiny 50 litre fuel tank and the fact we tow a caravan made me walk away from it quite smarts...15mpg towing!!

Why can't they produce a 400hp hybrid with 150miles range on electric? And a decent fuel tank.

I see what you mean, but it's too narrow a view of modern Chinese society and government. It would be rather similar to refusing to buy a Ford-era Volvo because of concerns about Iraq and non-existent WMDs, and that would be too narrow and unnuanced a view of a whole country.

My issue is that so many now are <2l and would need to exceed 39mpg on a run to break even with my business payments which in a big estate is tricky from petrol. In comparison I only need to hit 25mpg now as my car is >2l.

I had a Disco 4 and swapped it out for a fully loaded Skoda Superb. Huge boot, massive spec, comfortable, tows well (not as good as the Disco granted), great economy, job done.
Looked at the V90 but the boot was not big enough.
Just a update
