It is half way to dead gearbox, if it's an auto. My sister has had three of these, they have ALL shat their gearbox at 130000-140000 miles. The current one is on 137k and it's about to die.
That’s interesting, do you know if they had ever been serviced?

I know they say they are sealed for life but I think they also say to change transmission fluids at 100k. More often if it’s having a heavy life with towing, etc.
I don't know, I'll ask her if I remember. You'd have thought that if the answer is "no" for car 1 though, they'd have looked after the subsequent two a bit better. But then, they are kind of hard on things in that family...

Good tip, thanks. Do you have keyless entry?

D5 (215bhp) is a Euro 5 engine.

Bear this in mind if you're thinking of bringing it into London once they extend the congestion charge zone to the North/South Circular borders.

Always liked the XC70. You won't be disappointed. smile

No, that doesn’t bother me. Once in a blue moon that I take the car into London!

Well, dealer has now informed me that the car won't be back with them until Tuesday now!

How it can take a fortnight to 'prep' a less than 3 year old car I don't know....

Finally saw the Volvo today, and I'm a bit gutted to be honest.

Near enough every panel is scratched! God knows what the guy did to it.

Internally was lovely, and all the features/gadgets are great. But the outside just looks like it's been driven through a hedge!

Have told the guy I'd need a significant discount and certain things putting right to be interested. Shame.

Haven't heard from him yet.

Not overly impressed with the service considering it had been at their prep centre for 2 1/2 weeks whilst I waited to see it.
Dirty, mud on the inside of the drivers door, etc. Just seemed like the bare minimum had been done.

A shame. Could a good detail remove scratches? If so might be worth negotiation.

Knowing Lipscomb they will do a good prepping the vehicle once it's sold. So I wouldn't worry about that.

You could ask them about repairs to the scratches, and negotiate.

Decided not to press ahead with this purchase, there were just too many things to be sorted and I don't think I'd ever be happy.

Thanks for all of the posts, search continues!

That's a shame. I think you probably realised upon the viewing it wasn't the car for you. Good luck with the search.
