Had my V90 for nearly a month now, reasonably happy with it. Had the software crash on it twice though, both times whilst driving within a couple of minutes of setting out on my journey. A couple of days ago, the central console went blank a made a loud buzzing noise for about 30 seconds before it rebooted itself - it was fine after that. Then today it crashed again. This time it was off for a good few minutes. The car continued to drive, but none of the gadgets usable without the central console worked (cruise control, sat nav) - before the central console rebooted, the sat nav in the virtual dashboard rebooted and came up as if I was in Sweden (at least I think it was Sweden)!

Pressed the on call button and got nothing (not sure what to expect because not pressed it before). Going to ring the dealer tomorrow.

How did you get on with this?

Mine has crashed once in a year of owning about a month ago. Drove the car for about an hour then stopped for around 30 mins for lunch. When I got back in the Sensus screen started up and you could make out the usual home screen, but it had like a 'Matrix' pattern of green vertical lines across it. After about 5 mins it went completely blank and all audio noises stopped working (including indicator ticks - got out and checked and the indicators were still working). About 15 minutes after that it just sprung back into life again and it's been fine since. The dash wasn't affected.

Spoke to the dealer, who registered me with On Call. They said that Volvo where having a few system issues that week, but if it happens again to get in touch. It did happen again, but it was a quick one this time, almost like it rebooted itself and was out for about 10-20 seconds. I haven't reported it again yet though.

The occasional freeze happens to me but until last week it was only a temporary issue and it rebooted itself.

The matrix green lines, catastrophic failure, happened to me for the first time after 12 months of ownership last week though after I filled up at a fuel station. Fortunately I was crawling out from the station so pulled over. Tried turning ignition on/off but the screen stays "on" in that state and so didn't work.

Ended up stopping the car, locking it so the screen went off, unlocking and starting the whole process again. Sat nav had me in Sweden for a few minutes before coming to its senses.

May or may not be related, but it has just been in for first service with a software update. A few things have changed, but it has also killed my Volvo On Call service and the speed sign recognition. Awaiting call back...
