Thanks. Will call up on Monday. A 6 month extension on my t5 is preferable to current best prices on the t4. Will try and avoid the 2yr service though.

Just looking through details and prices for 2021 V60, noticed that a Volvo offer was through Santander. Question is Santander the regular route for leasing by dealers etc, or is it better to go direct seeing as I'm a 123 account holder.

The dealer I collected my v90 from told me that they couldn’t get anywhere near the Santander deal I took up.

Strange situation really.

Thanks for that. Follow up question, how are Santander if specifying options or is it you get what they get, eg add winter pack. My only experience of leasing has been company vehicles, and they were all from a list with a reduced list of options. Not a big fleet, about 400 ish.

No idea. My car is totally standard. I wouldn’t spec options on a lease personally

I found Santander just like any broker really. You could ask for different specs or mileage etc and they would price them up. Thing about adding any options to leasing cars is that you generally get charged 95% of the cost of the option - in your monthly payment over the length of the lease. So usually it is best to avoid any options if at all possible, the better value will come from the higher speccd car as a standard.

On pricing, Santander are like any broker, getting average deals most of the time and great deals occasionally. I had the 18mth V60 lease for £273pm on 10k miles... now it is much more at Santander and better priced elsewhere. That ended recently and I found an S90 at a dealer, picked that up at the end of March, and am paying about £300 per month average for 2 years... Santander were much more than that when I asked them for the same model.

Thanks, I had pretty much come to the above conclusions via a different route.

Comparing suggested advertised rates from Volvo, Santander and Leaseloco just to save effort, comparing like for like standard specs, they are priced in that order, Santander not too different from Volvo but the Leaseloco price quite a bit lower. In reality if you apply the desired options on a Momentum amortised over the lease it's not that far different from an Inscription which also has a lot more kit on it, even though some of the extras are not particularly interesting to me. Man maths in action. Clearly it all depends what they come up with when faced with someone actively looking to make a decision as opposed to just faffing about browsing.

Yes exactly. Personally I have found the leasing game more one of waiting for the deal rather than negotiating it... and as such being ready just to lift the offer when it is published. The Santander offers on various Volvos on 18 month deals were an example of this, and lost of people jumped on them (about 2 years ago).

At the end of last year Santander had a specific offer of £229/month on an S60 in white... if I had been looking at the time I would've lifted that.

In March I saw the offer from a Dealer on a couple of S90s they had left and although not a knockout it was a decent level so I lifted their offer and had it all agreed within a couple of hours. That's the leasing game as I see it...

Ok can see that approach and it's where getting towards. In short I'm currently just doing homework, understanding the models and specs in more detail, and instead of my start point which was I want an X with Y spec, it's now a case of waiting to see what offers come up across various manufacturer/model/spec combinations with a bias towards Volvo must admit, and when/if one comes up that looks interesting then no messing about just jump on it like a tramp on chips. I have no time pressures which makes it easy to wait. The slight difficulty at the moment is that I do like to see a vehicle before taking it on, mostly around certain specific dimensions for dog carrying duties. With showrooms closed that's difficult otherwise might have surprised myself by steering away from Volvo and gone for one of those First Edition Kugas despite being highly delighted when the last Ford I ran went back. Engine sounded like a diesel Transit with no soundproofing, and a Volvo with theoretically the same engine was a different animal, audibly and in terms of reliability. Had three all went to 100k, only one issue which was headlight washers. Hope they're as good under Geely.

Hi all,

If anyone missed the S60 Santander deal from before Xmas, I've got a metallic grey T5 R-Design Plus with privacy glass I might be looking to pass on - immaculate - no damage or kerbed wheels.

It's done 2280 miles (15,000 mile deal for the duration with low excess mileage) and was an 18 month deal from Dec 20th 2019, so will run through until 20th June 2021.

£150 transfer
£226 a month
Tax included

Bargain! If I hadn’t taken out an S90 recently at a half decent price then I would definitely have been interested. Hopefully you won’t have much of a problem finding a taker for this.

Well my V60 T5 went back this morning collected by Crystal collections. Was two and a bit weeks late but perfectly understandable in the circumstances. Has only done 4.5k in 18 months so someone is going to get a nearly new Volvo. Apparently it will be going straight to Auction.

Interesting, maybe leasing companies etc are opening up again, or was your lease at an end and you didn't want to keep it?

Mind you at 4500 miles over 18 months, do you really need a car? You could just hire one for the odd time you do a decent length journey and walk the rest!

Lease was at an end and I didn’t want the liability of keeping it despite being offered 3 further months for free.
As for the pitiful mileage, yes you are right, I didn’t really need that car. The bulk of the mileage were due to an elderly aunt becoming very ill,and 300 mile round trips to sort everything out, several of them! Otherwise the mileage would have been about 2k!

Trying to get the latest S60 lease from Volvo/Santander.
Really wanted to get a Fusion Red one, but it comes only with the Winter Pack which adds additional £200 to the full lease.
Asking for a suggestions, should I go for that, or better to take Osmium Grey without any additional packs? Which color will be more practical for a lease car, meaning that will show less wear and tear after two years?

Personally wouldn't consider one without the winter pack, but each to their own I guess.

I'm coming from a cold country so for me there is no winter in UK smile And it doesn't include heated windscreen, so not so sure

The question was more about color

Colour, for two years assuming you look after it, not much difference imho.

Presumably it's a 2020 model R Design Plus judging by the £200 comment and no heated windscreen, included in 2021 model. Though I can imagine those washer jets in the wiper blades would freeze up easily even in UK winters.

yes, it is a 2020MY
thank you for your insight.
Was thinking of getting a smartphone integration, but probably will pass as it won't be working with the HUD, so it will lose a point a bit.

Was hoping that they'd include the smartphone integration into 2021MY, as making it an optional extra, even on top Inscription spec, always seemed a bit mean to me. One of our family fleet has the ability to use smartphone navigation even though it's a relatively cheap hatch.

I'm waiting until life opens up some more so can have a test drive to check out if the built in sat nav is as bad as reviews say it is. Folks always used to slag off the Volvo RTI system, the one where the screen folded out from the desktop and you had a little joystick control on the back of the steering wheel, but never had an issue with it using it across Europe, it was far better 15 years ago than the one I have currently from JLR. If it really is a bad system though then the smartphone addon might be worth it.

Also to test the auto, again reviewers dislike it, but their complaints of laggy reactions seem to focus around a delay when you just floor it, again just imo, if you're driving an auto like that you're doing it wrong, but there's no substitute for seeing if it suits own personal style.
