I've ordered a new V50 D5 Se Lux as the interior comfort was important to me, however I do like the look of the R-Design version.

Doesn anyone know of anywhere that makes a replica kit, or any other tasetful side skirts and front vallance for the new V50?

Talk to the Volvo dealer supplying your new car. VCUK have acted on the long lead times of R Design and have now made available a styling pack communicated to dealers on 21.05.08 details the various, which include

Bodykit
Chrome rear view mirror
Roof/body spoiler
Sports pedals

Is this available only at time of order, or as an aftermarket 'add on'? My Volvo dealer doesn't seem to know anything about it!

These are available as Dealer Fitted Accessories and as said were communciated to dealers on 21st may. Tell them to read their Delaer Portal for info... Or cancel the order with them and place it with me instead!

Nice - somebody who wants to give a consumer what they want.

Dont cancel the order as you will probably drop back 3 months in the que to get one!

The parts people wont have read the update on the system as they never do.

Its not the Parts people who should be reading the info it is the Sales people who are at the end of the day the customers first port of call. If I know about it, so should every other Volvo dealer employee.

To cancel your order would not necessarily mean you would drop back your delivery, but I was only joking when I said place it with me. You would be unwise to cancel as the current dealer you are with may want to retain some or all of the deposit you have given them depending on the current build status of your order.

No offence as your obviously not in sales but they need to know a stupid amount of information as it is with regards to just selling the car and the important parts that go with that, knowing about some parts price is important yes but its not possible to remember a large number of them as thats when mistakes start happening, thats also why the parts department is their to get the prices from.

I know the 09 model adds factory fitted bluetooth (would like to know if this includes steering wheel controls) and homelink but can't see any other differences.

Err yup. Work in the Sales Dept of a Volvo dealer as you can probably guess from above.

Looking at your profile I am about as far from you as I can get - I am in the South. Our labour rates will be much higher than your local dealership in the North and coupled with the logistics of getting your car to me - you would be far better off getting your supplying dealer to sort you out, as much as it pains me to turn away business...

Winter with Xenon is no longer available
Am I reading the pdf on the site correctly?

It looks as if Bi-Xenons have been dropped completely. Is that correct? ie you can only have normal incandescent filament lamps or the bendy version.

The equivalent Ford i.e. the Focus, the options are as above plus bi-Xenon.

Odd no bi-Xenon for a vehicle built in a country with such long nights, to the extent that a significant %, maybe near half of vehicles, have a battery of extra rally lights across the front.

Got me confused for a while. Basically the Active Bending is Bi-Xenon. So whilst you can no longer have Bi-Xenon Winter, you can have Active Bending Winter Park. Glad that is so clear... Wonder how many other customers are going to think Bi-Xenon lights are no longer available.
