I dont have a volvo forum log in so trying this here...

I think my V70 D5 geartronic gearbox acts a bit oddly sometimes. Its got a bit of a vibration that I am getting checked out on Friday and I want to know how other peoples gearbox behaves...

Basically mine sometimes feels like its slipping a little sometimes, when your driving along it sometimes seems to flex the revs in manual mode without me doing anything - bit like clutch slip.

Not sure explained it well but would appreciate any comments.

PS never owned one before so dont know if its normal behaviour.

I've got the same car/combo.

I've not had the vibration issue you've had, but think I know what you mean about the "slipping" issue. I think what may be happening is that sometimes (when you're in manual mode) you're in too high a gear. e.g. 5th instead of 3rd and so the gearbox "slips" a bit until its back upto the right speed/revs for that gear.
Next time it happens, just knock it down a gear or two and see if that helps?

Mine does it from time to time (mainly when I'm being lazy) and I figure its just normal...I've had other gearboxes that do the same thing

Thanks for that - put my mind at rest smile

Master technician came out in the car with me and the vibration was obvious. Apparently its the actuator arm on the swirl pot for the injectors?

Anyway all covered under warranty and going back in next week - apparently I am losing a fair bit of power as a result smile

So, did they agree with my diagnosis of the "slipping"?

Are you getting the gearbox fixed, or a new one?

Feck knows, they fixed the problem by changing over the swirl pots on the injectors.

That gave me loads more power but the vibration is still there - its going in on monday for 3 days to find out the root cause.

Volvo's? hmmm reserving judgement now.
