I've got a V70 with the factory fitted sat nav that rises out of the dash. It's recently been getting slightly sporadic in it's ability to read the disc and has finally decided it can't read the disc, so just diplays an error message to that effect. local dealer has 'had a look' and can't say what's wrong - disc looks unscratched, and when they cleaned the player it did work a bit more reliably until now.

So, I was wondering, apart from buying a TomTom or similar which I'd rather not do, does anyone know how easy/cheap it is to replace the disc player in a V70 so that I can still utilise the steering wheel controls and nice dash monitor?
Thanks

right - judging from the lack of replies, I take it the answer is no it can't be!

Oh well, off to buy a TomTom then.

Very much doubt it will be cheap - It's quite a common issue on Porsches, think it is around £1200 to replace on exchange basis (Although that is a more 'standard' double din style unit).

Phone your dealer, it's proably quite common.

Had this twice on my V70 over the last 5 years (180K Miles). Both occasions it was dust on the DVD or the reader lens. Wash the DVD in warm water with a drop of washing up liquid and clean the lens with a cleaning DVD like this-

and it should be OK

Good luck

thanks - will try giving it a wash and clean the device as suggested.
