Can anyone help my 850 T5 quit smoking?

It's actually coming from the heater!

My 850 T5 has the climate control and when you turn either tep knob to anything other than the blue cold setting, a small puff of smoke and rather nasty smell comes out of the vents!

I've never had a car with A/C or Climate control before, but suspect that this isn't normal behavior. The temperature does go up when you select a setting other than cold, but the cold air setting isn't that chilly.

I'm guessing it's broken but if anyone can shed any light on the subject then I'd be very grateful!

Are your windows damp?

If so check the heater radiator(leak),you can check by looking at the expansion barrel(coolant)

If it's loosing coolant prob the radiator(heater)

Yep, looks like it's leaking coolant and the passenger footwell is slightly damp. Any idea if this is a difficult and expensive thing to fix?

Well i don't know where you're from(i'm from belgium)and here it costs about 200euros for the heater core and it takes the dealers about 2hrs to fix,part of the middle console has to come off.

Don't wait too long to fix it(the smell is a sweet sort of smell wich lasts for ages)

hello mate i had the same problem heater matrix leaking in to footwell. what i did is bought a bottle of sealent which u add to expansion tank and it seals ne leaks. its a liquid one which a chemical in it so it doesnt block engine water ports. its been over 6 months now and all is still good. hope this helps. it cost about a tenner of ebay.... good luck
