I need to replace the tyres on my wifes Xc90 and I'm really reluctant to pay through the nose again for anything 'premium.' The last set of Continentals we had lasted just over 12,000 miles and so I'm looking for something other than the brand.

Anyone have any experience with budget tyres on an Xc90, like Nankang or Hankook?

Any recommendations?

Ours has General grabber's on, just been quoted £130 each for them due to an unrepairable puncture, however the previous owner managed to get them for £98 each in Jan this year.

I have always been a fan of the Pirelli Scorpions and get over 20,000 miles out of a set of mixed driving

Have you tried Nokian's or Vredstein Wintrak Extreme's... other owners recommend them. Try camskill or other similar tyre distributors (black circle, etc)...

Same for me - 14,000 miles and the Pirellis are all shot. Thought the Scorpions would be worth trying and Black Circle were the best I could find. To ease my pain, I was planning to change them all last week and then after a trip last night I noticed I had picked up a screw in the back tyre - now that would have been very annoying to have just replaced and then replace again.
