Oh - and a growing interest in working model helicopters...
Would it be possible to build a working model lego helicopter?

Not one that actually hovers/flies unfortunately

I got myself a Unimog the other week and I've been looking at Lego truck trials lately, it looks like loads of fun building real world trucks out of Technic

Well one of my drunken ebay purchases has arrived!

Its pretty dusty, gearbox very stiff and quite a few broken and missing ring clip things. But overall im happy. It will get stripped down, cleaned and rebuilt and then who knows...

Still not heard from the seller of the other item frown

Sadly there is no chance of a working model helicopter built from lego. Ever.

The forces and power involved need custom frames, gear, blades etc.
Lego is great for demonstrating stuff, but real engines, boats, helicopters and planes will never work in lego.

I'm not allowed to touch the one I purchased until 25th December. I'm itching to get on with it!

Look what DHL just delivered!

Unfortunately the Unimog has to go away until Christmas.
With some heavy hinting to my mum and sister, they've gone and bought the sports car for my lads christmas present.

Of course its for him ..... he's 10 years old, we'll be doing it as a father-son bonding exercise. Won't be able to commence the build on christmas day, the wonders of divorce. He doesn't have a clue that he's getting it, will be an awesome surprise. I've been teasing him with various build videos from youtube (see, its AWESOME!!!)

In the mean time, I'm wondering if I should be giving him the Star Wars Lego advent calendar, or keep it for myself.

It's nothing like as versatile as it used to be either. So many parts now can only be used on one or two models, and it seems like if they can make a single part that saves ten others, they will. Shame becasue even if it's cheaper that way it does defeat the object a little bit.
not true more parts make it way better look what i made

I hope the linky works for my piccies.

Glad I can't see the pics in the link from work, it would make me want to order one .....

Sons Technic Sports Car got completed by about 8:30am on new years day.

The "gearbox"

Better looking front end than most cars on the road these days

View from the rear (decent mobile cams can get in places other cameras cannot!)

It is mildly epic. My lads just turned 10, has aspirations of being a gadget designer or engineer of some sort, and this is the perfect start. Apart from a couple of mistakes on the central chassis (it wouldn't mate up to the differential), he got it all perfect - powered it up, the doors/bonnet/spoiler all move exactly as they should.

Damn you PH, thy name is Technic Temptation!

£40 in Toy'r'us, currently. I was weak, GF got to catch up on crappy Christmas TV all day.

Detailing needs finishing, there's a bit missing, and I've one of the drives 'round the wrong way as when the front wheels go forward, the back wheels go in reverse.

After that, I'll treat myself to the power functions module and mess about with that.

Then a mammoth saving for #8043.
You got any links to that at £40 as errr.. would like lol

I've just checked on their site and it's not on there, but my nearest Toys'r'Us store which is in Harlow, Essex had it on offer yesterday @ £39.99. They had 2 left, I think.

Suggest getting to your nearest store quicksharp!
Thanks, Woking have'nt got it and the chances of me getting anywhere else is zero. Boo
