Defender just went a bit cheaper on Amazon at £128. Decent price for a splurge purchase?

Don’t all the cars look a bit naff? I’m sure the build will be great but they just don’t look right to me

Some do - the McLaren Senna is a mess so Lego have done the best they could. The dark colour scheme doesn’t help.

The Ferrari 488 is just not a good model IMO. Too many gaps & an awful chassis which doesn’t really exist!!! The car sits way too high & the stickers are dreadful. The front end looks as though the designers just gave up & the headlights are horrible.

The good ones are the Defender - a great build, solid & looks just about right. And the 911 RSR is another great model.

Can’t comment on the Chiron or the Sian as I don’t, yet, have either of them.

I really like the Chiron and Mustang so far.

I held off the RSR because it didn't look right to me, I tend to prefer 'road' cars over race cars for kits so looking forward to the Defender arriving.

Finished the Panigale V4R the other week. It was my first motorbike. Makes me want a real one.

Rebuilt the corvette into the LMP car which uses most of the original parts and looks better than the original. My defender arrived at the weekend and yet to be opened. Notice the price dropped by £22 but no option to spread the cost over 5 months so not too bothered.

After holding out for 2 years I've finally ordered the Chiron to go with my 911 GT3. Bit disappointed that I missed the best prices in November/December, I've paid £260 which is almost double what I paid for the Porsche but I couldn't risk the set going out of production before I got one

Expect a lot of people on here have bought and built it already

Next will be the Sian, however I'll try to wait until later in the production life so that the colour mismatch issues are hopefully resolved

Not convinced about the Defender (is it as "nice" a build and model as the 911 and Chiron?) but that could be another option given it's significantly cheaper. Wish they had gone with a different colour for that set!

Anyone got any of the Control+ sets? Does the app just give you controls for that specific build, or can you configure it yourself to control the different motors if you build something else?

Tempted by the big Leibherr excavator, but having not made any lego technic since the car chassis with the flat 4 engine and working gear box maybe something a bit simpler like the Volvo dump truck might be more sensible

I've not tried it but it appears so with the Lego Powered Up app:

I think earlier in this thread there's some negativety about the Volvo truck. I've built the Liebherr, it's mahoosive and great to operate with 7 motors!

I'll be honest, it's the Liebherr that's tempting me, how complicated was the build?

Amazon's trying to tempt me with bulk buys, the Liebherr, Volvo and rough terrain crane for €750 hehe

Bought the Volvo dumper on the group buy and not a bad build but the Control + functions leave a lot to be desired and are quite clunky. Had the Liebherr as a Christmas present and aside from one missing bit was a nice build and the Control + functions far better than the Volvo.

I'm tempted by the Chiron and GT3 too but I think I'd rather do more smaller Creator Expert builds for the same money. I already have the RSR and Defender. The Defender was a very enjoyable build (as was the RSR, I just enjoyed the Defender more) at the time.

Be honest with yourself, you've already made your mind up to buy the Liebherr, so just do it and post your build pics here hehe

I'd say the build is about the same level of difficulty as all large Technic builds, just lots more of it. I like the way you test the various functions via the Control+ app during the build, so you don't get to the end and find it borked with a couple of days of dismantling & rebuilding ahead of you.

You'll need lots of AA batteries, 6 per hub, so 12.

The Ferrari F40 was my first creator expert set, I think it's the best lego set I've ever bought. New Porsche looks good too

I'll be honest, I didn't feel it was a good build experience for the price. Its obviously expensive for the hubs and motors. I preferred the bucket wheel excavator and rough terrain crane.

There are a few alt builds for 42100 on rebrickable. I've built R2D2 which was good value build/£ but very difficult and unfortunately not all functions work, its built in such away its difficult to deconstruct to problem solve.

As already said you can custom control the hubs using Powered up or BuWizz apps. I've not experimented much but both have pros and cons. Sariel posted a good video of how to program the Lego app.

Another thumbs up for the F40. Looking to buy the new Porsche next week after cashing in some VIP points. Built the Porsche RSR last week and to be honest I found it a bit meh. Bags not numbered, lots of stickers and no real new build techniques. Finished model looks good but in my opinion an average build. Need to put up more shelves before more building biggrin

I'm rebuilding the GT3 today before my Chiron arrives tomorrow. GT3 is more fun than I remembered. The first box of parts is a beast though. Something like 350 steps just to get through that.

The RSRs biggest problem is the GT3 I think, I already had that before the RSR came out so didn't consider the RSR

Just finished rebuilding my GT3 before starting the Chiron that I ordered last week

Forgot how much fun it was to build this, I especially love the way the bodywork is built, working "around" the car rather than completing the same bits on each side back to back. The reduced repetition makes it much more interesting

Hoping the Bugatti is as enjoyable to build, I've done the first ~60 steps
