Which is the better kit with them both being at a similar price?
The 911 RSR or the 488 GTE?
The RSR is a far better build than the 488. I have both - dislike the 488 intensely. Hate the fact it sits too high (although this is easily remedied), hate the fact that apart from the doors nothing opens. The 911 RSR or the 488 GTE?
The front is a mess. The headlights are awful. And then there are those dreadful stickers.
The 911 on the other was a great build.
In my opinion & I know that many people like the 488. I don’t.

Its a gift for somebody else though, the last one they got was the Ducati so its a good step up.

I know it's probably not a popular opinion, but I can't help but think that the car kits (488, 911, etc.) look like they've been modelled / designed after a particularly bad crash involving a roll over!I've got and done the Defender which looks a bit better, but maybe it's pretty 'square' design helps! There are still bits that grate - the angled front / side of the roof over the door, ugh.

I agree, I think the car models look rubbish. More agricultural stuff seems to be better e.g. the Unimog or various cranes, likely as you say because it more square in the first place.I've got and done the Defender which looks a bit better, but maybe it's pretty 'square' design helps! I agree some of the technic cars look poor compared to the real thing especially the Bugatti Chiron. Think its the technic pieces that do not lend themselves to the curves of a car that’s the problem. One thing I do not understand is why the more expensive technic cars don’t have a windscreen, rear screen and side windows. In my opinion the best looking car is the speed champions Audi S1 rally car. Great looking little model, which sort of backs up the point as this car in real life is very square and angular not curved.
Weirdly I like the look of the Chiron, but have held off buying the Porsches because I always felt they didn't look quite right!Edited by wolfie28 on Wednesday 17th February 12:37

I would also like to see front and rear screens on the flagship sets. The cost of the fancy packaging should offset the die costs.

Completed the rough terrain crane last night.
What a brilliant build that is, and great functionality. Really impressed with it.
Oh, it's flipping massive too.
It is a superb build. By far the best Technic kit to date. The functions are really good & apparently it can, just about, lift the McLaren Senna & the Rubicon Jeep!!!What a brilliant build that is, and great functionality. Really impressed with it.

Haven’t tried it yet because SWMBO doesn’t know I have got it. Currently got it hiding in the spare bedroom!

Finished stages 1 and 2 on the defender and about 10/12 hours in at this point. Really enjoying this as my first large scale Technic set. Fortunately everything appears to be working well with the gearbox/engine as I wouldn't want to be stripping this down again.
You're at the best bit from my perspective as the subsequent outer body parts hide the mechanicals. I'm thinking of stripping mine back to this point (maybe less the seats too) so the mechanicals are on display. The Brummie said:

Even at £140/150 it’s a great buy.

I bought mine from Very. Cost me less than £110.00 in one of their occasional ‘flash’ sales.

Cheers, only price I can find is around the £220 mark which is a bit pricey for me, for now.Even at £140/150 it’s a great buy.
Take a look on Facebook marketplace dependent on where you are in the country I can see one in York for £120 and one in Blackpool for the same.
