I picked up the Ferrari 488 GTE (42125) for under £100 in Costco Coventry today. My son has it on his birthday list and I was planning to buy it at £135 ish from Amazon so a decent saving.

I suspect I will be helping out with the stickers.

I’ve just built the McLaren Senna. It’s a chunky thing with a lot of parts, but really disappointed in the lack mechanisms, which is the bit about Technic I like. The drive train is a real cop out with no diff and 1-wheel drive from the engine.
Yes that one is a bit disappointing. And ugly. The other weird bit is where the chassis is kind of bent in the middle.
Yes, I thought I’d built it wrong when I spotted that, but everything seemed to together ok.
I built my Senna a few weeks back and was convinced it was wrong - Very odd but I will say that it was NOT an enjoyable build...

On the other hand, the hovercraft and the digger kits are really nice smile

Are licensing costs really that high?

LEGO Technic 42129 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck 2110pcs Age 12+ £269.95
LEGO Technic 42128 Heavy-duty Tow Truck 2017pcs Age 11+ £137.95
As near as damnit the same number of pieces and as good as double the price for a Mercedes Truck.

The motors/controllers for the Merc will bump it up somewhat.

Three large motors and one medium motor plus the battery pack, all at £30/unit Lego standard prices...does addd up.

Just makes it look VERY expensive.

True. But even without the motors, and at the same price, I’d still be buying the Heavy Duty Tow Truck, it’s just a better model IMO. Given the huge increase in price for the Merc makes it a complete non starter.

That said, the Cat D11T I am going to be all over… nerd

Come on then, what was it? My wife got me the Sian for my birthday last Tuesday, really enjoying the build so far.

Well that was lucky!

Had to pop into town today (wasn't around yesterday) so naturally popped into the Lego store.

Last one on shelf and now on back order on the site. Already!

Phew! Would have been pissed if I'd missed this!

That's what technic should be, it should have that many functions (plus pneumatics, I know they're crap for realistic movement but come on, they're amazing) that you wonder how on earth they came up with fitting them in such a tight space.

The tow truck appeals to me a lot more than the Merc truck, not just on price
