Out of print GW goes for silly money.
Guard, epic, rogue trader...
I was pretty anrgy at the weekend, I missed out on an unopened box of Kasrkin on ebay by £1. Under £50 too which seemed good given the prices of other sets. Guard, epic, rogue trader...
Watching some OOP Forgeworld stuff but expect that will be even more epxensive.

Now that I'm fully back in I got down to painting for the first time in 10-12 years.
I only did 4 models as I didn't want to attempt doing a squad and get frustrated or be inconsistent. Overall I'm happy with the result so far, this is before any layer or highlighting. To be honest I probably won't do the highlights given volume of guard.
I've purchased some more brushes as trying to get into the finer areas without a detail brush wasn't ideal. I also think I might have overshaded.

Looking great!
I've been busy with Titanicus terrain. Finally decided on a plan of action, so am now making up 'tiles' and starting to burn through the huge backlog of loose, unpainted terrain bits and pieces.
Random photo vomit (ignore the 'bases' - I'm building a board with recessed top, and once the tiles are placed I'll be spreading loose sands/aggregates to make the main surface covering over the hardboard bases to blend everything in):

Mannn so desperate for a game of 40k, not had one since a socially distanced outdoor game last August...
I'd kill for a game of old school 2nd edition. The best imoMannn so desperate for a game of 40k, not had one since a socially distanced outdoor game last August...
I found since coming back into the hobby its all quite complicated in 8th and now 9th edition.

Yes! That’s the one I got as a youngster. Midwinter minis on YouTube recently got hold of an unopened example and painted it retro style and it really took me back

The few games myself and three buddies have played of 9th have been much more enjoyable than most of 8th. The funny thing is we all come from 2nd and 3rd edition also!. I’m a Tyranid player (ex chaos), buddy number one is imperial guard, buddy two switches between harlequins and Grey knights and buddy three is death guard player.I found since coming back into the hobby its all quite complicated in 8th and now 9th edition.
On the flip side I’ve got this lot to put together for my 8yr old as he liked the killer robot look.

It's been essentially funded through Patreon as part of his business so it's a different dynamic than if I were to try it. That said I have several hundreds of pounds of Eldar and Tau that I've essentially never touched. Got "all-in" and then realized I was crap and didn't have the patience or time to put into it to get better. Most of them haven't even been opened so he's got a much easier justification than I ever did!
If anyone wants a load of stuff let me know by the way!!

I have been watching a lot of ebay miniature rescues recently. Quite enjoy watching him restore ruined miniatures to glory. I'm looking to get a few models from other armies as little projects. Although guard are my main thing I want to get experience with painting and building different things. A mate is giving me a spare Primaris Captain from the indomitus box.
I also have a box of old Tau as that's what i originally started collecting after moving to 40K from LOTR. At the moment convinced my other half to paint them as a fun project so she isn't fussed about how much I spend on GW stuff but i am not sure that plan will last. Would like to add to them as a second army to play but even with the last FAQ they still seem terrible in 9th.
