"officially" there's nothing 'Epic scale' any more other than Titanicus.

However, there's a thriving Epic scene - if you do want to sell you epic stuff, please let me know!

I'm planning on printing several thousand points of epic 30k units, as we can play vast apocalypse scale games on a regular 6x4.
Shame I have a few metal leman russ, chimeras , 1 demolisher and 1 hellhound from the epic 40k short era

Hi folks

Hopefully this is allowed. I have a load of 40k stuff from when I thought I wanted to get back into the hobby but never found the time or inspiration to do so (I'm very much an "all the gear, no idea" kind of guy)

(

Anyway I want to get it shifted as it's taking up space but before I look to sell them I wanted to check if anyone here wants them for a charity donation?

I'm based around SW London and can drive short distance to meet or if you fancy collecting let me know. If there's any interest I'll do a fuller audit / get more pics

Pictured here are the essentially unopened boxes but I also have a Dark Vengeance boxset in various states of build, a Wraith Seer and a pristine Space Hulk box-set.

I also have a load of paint and brushes etc which would also be great to have taken off my hands.

Another possible option is whether there's any "Warhammer" charity that anyone's aware of in the UK? I saw something in the US but I've already moved back :
Hello bud, would these still be available?

Some friends of mine are into Warhammer, they have several versions as well as video games. I showed an interest as I do enjoy some fantasy warfare, and I have done a few model cars in the past (and still have a few in the stash). I wanted to understand the background, how the different factions relate, etc. I do not want to go down that particular rabbit hole though, as I already have enough time- (and space-)consuming projects.

They've just given me a small starter set for my birthday... Oh well, down the hole we go! laugh

I'm going to need to decide early on how my Space Marines should end up, as I always prefer a consistent army compared to lots of disparate groups...

This is probably a good starting point...

I wouldn't fret to much over your starting chapter for your space marines - just pick one and start it. You'll no doubt have multiple chapters in time!

I think try a few chapters using the (probably) 5 marines you’ve got in the starter set. Not only is the look and background important considerations but also how nice the paints are to use!

Reds and blues, so blood angels and ultramarines, I find really lovely paints. Anything with a lot of very pale colours I’m personally not keen on the claggy paint consistency smile

I'd recommend dark angels - great lore and characters and a nice variety of colour schemes even within the same chapter...

I'll read up on Dark Angels, thanks smile

My main issue with trying out different things is that I like things to "fit", I really struggle to just make things up... If I end up with a bunch of miniatures, I'd rather they fit well together than being from chapters who would not give each other the time of day. And also in a colour scheme that vaguely fits!

I'm like that with Lego too, apart from the Kragle I am very much on Will Ferrell's side in the Lego movie rofl

Plus, with Dark Angels you can play both loyalist and traitor...

wink

There can also be a great delight in coming up with a homebrew chapter, with your own fluff and back story. From a gaming perspective, you can then just run them as a 'successor chapter' of any of the main ones and borrow their rules.

As we’re heading into the dark nights biglaughgetmecoat time for me to start painting again and plow through my pile of shame (especially as a new Kill team is on the horizon.

I got bored on a couple of conference calls and have a play with OSL, a base of Fluor ink and dry brushed with the necromancy tech paint.

Then marines are the army for you! It’s one of the few factions in the game that has a rigid chapter structure, with different companies having certain colour ways and squad markings.

A good way of getting inspiration is looking on eBay for older codex from previous editions or f the game. The rules are no use so they tend to be cheap (I sold a load at a car boot for £1 each) but the artwork and lore are all still current.

I've settled on Deatchwatch, at least to start with. My first guy is probably about 2/3 done, though I keep finding bits I want to fiddle with! I'm going to have to buy more paints to get it how I want, and some nice small brushes!

Rosemary and Co series 33 (size 1). I barely use anything else anymore - a few cheap make up brushes for drybrushing, and a cheaper brush for metallic.

Good shout on Deathwatch (worth reading the trilogy, it's good!) - in fact, I have a bunch of DW infantry I don't need anymore...

Vallejo paints, you get more paint for less money and in dropper bottles, not pots that get knocked over. Nip down to the art and craft supplies place for brushes. Make a wet palette. Sorted biggrin

Anyone remember Elder and Dark Elder? I spent tons of cash and time building up a collection as a kid only for them (if i recall correctly) to scrap them. Should have gone with Space Marines.

Eldar and dark eldar are still around!

Now called trademark friendly Aeldari and Drukhari.

In fact, at the moment, eldar are monstrously powerful in tournaments.
