Damn you beefcake!!

I wouldn't bother with decals just practice freehanding icons and stuff. Although i think the DV vboxset dark angels have icons moulded onto the shoulder pads.

Ahh yeah they do have the moulded icons. Much easier.

Ignore the add decals part. but if you ever want to add decals always over a gloss base and always seal with gloss or they go silvery.

Cheers guys, that makes sense.

I've got a batch of 7 tactical Marines left to finish. At present they're ready for highlights, so I've got a few to practice on! The two I've already done I'm going to go over the transitions with green wash to try and tone them down.

Then I've got the slave dudes, followed by the bikes, then bone coloured armour for the terminators (saw a tutorial I'm going to copy where they did the highlights with the primer - black all over, then grey from 'above' for the midtones, then a quick shot of white to give the topmost highlights. Basecoat as normal and apparently it just needs detailing and a wash...).

Then I can summon up the courage to do the chaos chosen then the dark angel and chaos special characters.

The missus asked for an airbrush for her nails for Xmas... hmmm.

Much easier?!!!

The double ended arrow I'll agree with. The stupid sword with wings? As far as I'm concerned I'd be better off without the raised detail, as its not raised enough to be easy, yet too raised to freehand...

Was almost tempted to file it all off and get some photoetch.

One trick I use with these raised icons (I have them on my sternguard) is paint the raised icon, go over the lines etc make sure the colour is solid, and then paint your green main colour upto the edges of the icon. It's easier to control paint to flow UP to detail, rather than have it not flow OFF the detail and onto the main colour.

I hope that makes sense...it does in my head.

It does, and I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Having just noticed the thread, I am up for this. Is the kind offer still valid?

I have 2.5k of Crimson Fists and 1.5k of Guard allies on the way. I can also get a friend who can field 3k of Nurgley/Khorne Chaos and about 2k of Orks.

How many bods do we need?
Of course the offer stands.

Many Thanks Rich1231, will check with my oppo and see when he can make it, will be the new year now if that good with you? Should those interested drop me a PM and I will try and co-ordinate, or would it be more simple if they get in touch with you so you can co ordinate?

Came across to Wayland on my way home from work on Thursday. Seems I just missed you Rich, and didn't realise the store only opens certain days. Will try and get across on Weds evening, if not it'll be a web order for more paints and brushes...

Posted a new thread with my current achievements and a request for help regarding an airbrush I've been given, to save duplication here it is:

All critiques welcome...

Sternguard. I used the DA Veteran set for a couple of reasons: 1) I don't like the Sternguard models 2) I hate Finecast 3) These were way cheaper 4) Loads of spare parts.

The only downside was filing down a few DA symbols...

I started playing it back in the mid 90's during 2nd edition with my mates. After playing too much Dawn of War online with the same mates and my brother in law we ended up getting back into it.

Here' some of my stuff

Ork German WW2 themed army

My Space Wolf Force (work in progress)

And my current project, Vostroyan guard

This is the rest of them in the production line...it's a bit smaller now christmas has gone

Serious lack of baslisk in this.

I was a serious sucker for the games, i know it will never compare, but modeling has only just shone for me.

Needs more entrenched bolters and what not.

Ive currently got a large collection of epic warhammer 40k for sale on gumtree. Sadly dont have any time to play it. I have a large ork army and a space marine army. I have also got a great gargant (very heavy) and various titans. Just a heads up for anyone interested wink
