That’s good there are a few left still.

Some really nice starter sets have just been announced too!

Blood angels look great, have you got any close up pictures?

Goliath ganger also awesome, nice job.
Those death guard above look very nice, i have a heap of them from the LAST 40k starter box and the conquest magazine, all either built or on sprue, its on the "To Do" list.

I got an indomitus box through my FLGS up here, 1 per customer as only got 28 boxes. Making the necrons up now to paint up to sell as a good gaming army on my studio shop ebay site.

WRT the blood angels, i have completed the whole army now, got it on ebay as a buy it now rolling auction, its expensive but thats the value of the work smile

I've been trying to avoid burn out for a while now by going for "best finish in the time available" rather than absolute best finish.

This is my latest, about 5 hours of painting, almost entirely with contrast paints...

Both the previous posts have given me something to aim for! With lockdown taking its toll on me (not wanting to spend time in the flat as I’m WFH) and trying to buy the house during a global pandemic, I haven’t gone near a brush.

Turn out one of the guys at my archery club also paints but doesn’t play, so might see if he wants a kill team game once I’ve moved, as I’m primarily a Xenos painter, and he has smurfs, I think we should be able to muster up a squad each.

On the xenos, has anyone heard a whiff of them getting an update any time soon? All the updates I’ve seen are for SM’s and the Necrons for the new boxed set.

Necrons and Space Marines get a new 9th edition codex in October. I'd imagine that Eldar will be pretty soon after that at the very least.

Of course, if playing kill team - all irrelevant. 9th hasn't changed KT as a game at all (and it is a very good game).

Saying that - I am quite interested in the patrol missions in 9th specifically designed for small forces.

The only reason for thinking KT is within the models we have, I doubt could raise a 1000 point army in the nids I have.

Kill team is perfect. With Nids, that'd typically be something like half a dozen gaunts of either variety plus a genestealer or two /bigger gribbly.

They're a nice faction - good variety and variation. Lots of tactical ways to play them.

Quickly in that case, do I need the starter set or just the rule book as I have the Wyches pack? Or something else?

Just looked on Waylands site and they have the starter pack and arena. If I can avoid getting more mini’s outside of my preferred armies that would be great.

Rule book has everything for a 'normal' game, including faction points/strategems/etc.

Elites book has some really nice additions, subfactions (so different hive fleet rules)/increased units/new strategems and missions.

No need for more models!

I really like the additions that Elites brings (don't bother with Commanders - it's crap imo), but perhaps the core book to get started with then add elites later.

If playing with a mate, the campaign rules with experience/etc. are really good fun and can add a lot - especially with the two factions you're playing!

Oh, missed your comment on arena.

Arena is a really cool game - pretty much a sub game of Kill Team itself.

In the box, you get no models - but you do get an entire corridor/ship's interior style layout with doors/walls/crates/etc.

It's designed for more balanced tournament style play. Layouts are symmetrical.

The rules are modified from the core game a tad, to reflect the close quarters nature.

I'm a muppet! In my haste to order the models and rules, I ordered the rules in French, D'oh! I ordered the right models though so I can swamp the board as 'gants are cheap!

Just have to wait now for the last model set I want (Nid warriors) to become in stock and I'm sorted until the Nids and Craftwords get an update.

Is it me or do some of GW’s scaling seem off on some models? Just bought a Lictor for a kill team squad and he’s not much larger than my ‘Gants. I’ll admit that I was expecting something about 3 inches tall.

Will be interesting to see how big he is up against the warriors when they arrive.

Yeah, scaling is all over the place.

Can't recall warriors in size compared to lictors. If I remember rightly, similar size but more bulk.

Broodlords are pretty nice sized.

Tyranids are so old their scale is likely off! I remember having the lead one and thought it was relatively big though...

I have a Broadlord too, he’s double the Lictor!

Really struggling to get a decent photo on my ancient iPhone, but here my LOC. This is the last death guard for a while as gonna start Indomitus next and that is likely to take me at least 12 months biggrin

I really, really like your DG JF...

Stunning work with the 'official' scheme - exceptional execution I'd love to be able to do (I avoid the 'eavy metal look like the plague, cause I just can't do it. So I cheat and lay down sick airbrush blends to confuse the fools).

It'll be great to see what you do with Indomitus - what Chapter are you thinking?

Thanks for the feedback Sway, appreciate it! I love Blood Angels and have a small force already so indomitus will expand that. [edit: hence the marine head he’s standing on]

I’m a very slow painter so the necrons are going to be filthy (literally) quick, and I’ve got a couple of cheap but cool ideas smile

As someone who doesn't make these or play please forgive the stupid question, I like coming onto this thread to see the amazing modelling and painting that you guys do, so bare with me. laugh

On the models there appear to be "craters" or indents in the armour of the characters, if these are meant to be damage from bullets or shrapnel etc, does anyone paint the inside of the dents silver to show that it's been damaged? As that's what it looks like it needs? Or is the armour supposed to be the same colour all the way through due to what's it's thought to me made of?

As said, apologies for what is probably a very stupid question and as said, the skill on this is amazing and way beyond anything I could achieve, just an observation.
