My mates wife picked up the Snowspeeder at Legoland (Windsor) at the weekend, there was a Star Wars thing on. I didn't think it was available yet, but she managed to get one, not sure if they still have them, or if it was a mistake selling them early.
he said it was a really good build though, very clever and pretty interesting, though didn't take very long, maybe 4-5 hours (not long for such an expensive set IMHO).

it went on sale to VIP card holders on Saturday. he said it was a really good build though, very clever and pretty interesting, though didn't take very long, maybe 4-5 hours (not long for such an expensive set IMHO).
The shop at Legoland Windsor is run by Merlin rather than Lego Group though (so you don't get VIP point there, nor can you redeem accumulated ones, I believe) so I'm guessing they either had a dispensation from TLG to sell it early or they just didn't concern themselves with the embargo

Cool cheers. How utterly bizarre though that the Lego store in Windsor is not run by Lego and won't accept Lego cards! It's a Legoland FFS! The Lego store here at Disney Springs accepts the VIP card/points etc and also allows 10% discount to Disney Annual Pass holders on Disney based Lego products.

Have you been to the Windsor one? There's hardly any lego content there once you've been through the small world Miniland bit, other than the odd sign with a sticker of a lego man head on it, and what there is is so faded after being abandoned by Lego group when they sold the place in 2005!The Lego store here at Disney Springs accepts the VIP card/points etc and also allows 10% discount to Disney Annual Pass holders on Disney based Lego products.

Out of Interest Stig, how much is an annual pass?
A couple of years back I paid just over £100 a head for the full Merlin annual pass premium version. That is access to all the Merlin parks/attractions for a year and includes Legoland, Alton Towers etc plus London eye, the seaworlds, Shrek, Dungeons, Warwick Castle etc. It was worth it especially as we only live 20 minutes for Legoland which the kids loved.
Legoland is a park for younger kids.

I've heard it mentioned that while they don't give you VIP points at some of the non LEGO owned LEGO attractions, they sometimes give 5% off instead.
I'm not sure which ones do, but I guess its worth asking, they can only say no but it could save you a few quid.
As you say, always worth asking - but I got firmly rebuffed when I asked in the shop at the Lego Discovery Centre (also run by Merlin) at the Trafford Centre. I'm not sure which ones do, but I guess its worth asking, they can only say no but it could save you a few quid.
Their line was they don't have anything to do with the Lego VIP scheme so you can't accumulate or spend points and they wouldn't offer anything off in lieu - the store manager told me he couldn't override the till. I was sceptical about the latter bit but didn't pursue it as what I was buying wasn't expensive anyway.
