Saturn V complete.
I dont want to put people off, but I was/am really quite disappointed with the build. Its rather fragile, and the two main stages not clicking together properly is a real shame and to be honest there wasnt one part where I thought "yeh, thats special / clever" .
It was a bit too much 'by the numbers' and of course very repetitive. If you've built a 1/4 of it, you've built the model, if you see what I mean.
Cant argue with the scale of the thing, and it certainly looks cool.... but I think it is just missing a bit of magic. Cant win them all, I suppose.
I agree it's a little repetitive, but it was always going to be the same thing x 4. I don't agree with the fragility of it. I thought the main body was as robust as anything else I've built. Looking at your pictures I'd say you have an issue in the S1&2 connection. The stage 1 and 2 sections should fit much more closely than that - I have it on my desk in front of me and there is no gap at all. It might be worth re-checking your build against the instructions?
Edit to say, going by the pictures, the top of the LM should nearly reach the top of the vertical on the fins. Your fins look higher than that. Is it possible that you have moved the entire outer cladding up by half a brick? I recall it may be possible to do that early.
Further Edit to say it should definitely clip in - I can pick the whole thing up by lifting S2 only.

(Sorry! Usual iPhone/iPad orientation cock-up!)
The stages should clip together quite securely. I pulled mine apart yesterday to see how it displayed when sectioned (quite well!) and dropped the upper stages onto the carpeted floor. To my surprise there was very little breakage. It's much more robust than you might think.
But yes, the build is a little repetitive.
Impressive result though!

Any chance you can post a photo of the top of stage I and the bottom of stage II on yours, so I can see whats different.
Mine is per my manual, but im starting to wonder if theres a printing error or something daft. Mine will not clip together without popping off the top ring of cladding on stage I
I'll post photos in a second. but I did notice that you have the pipes on upside down - the black bit should be to the top, yours is in the middle. I wonder if that is subtly changing the position of the top somehow?Mine is per my manual, but im starting to wonder if theres a printing error or something daft. Here is a photo of the top and bottom of s1 and 2

Looks like there *might* be more horizontal distance between the red 'receiving' clips and the cladding, but that also might be down to the angle of the photo.
For the rest, it looks identical
There is a tile's width between the red clips and the cladding, which seems to be what you have. For the rest, it looks identical
Have you tried removing the cladding and fully inserting to see what is causing it to pop off? It should be obvious when you go to put the cladding back on with both joined.

I have mine displayed like that too.
Question I have is, "what do you do with Michael Collins?". Currently I have him standing next to the LM, but I know he shouldn't be there. Am I overthinking this?

Joke! "Carrying the Fire" probably reveals one of the most rounded of these men, demi-Gods to me!
On all but XI, the CM pilot had the centre couch and would have been first into the dingy. But a) there's no dingy and b) Aldrin had the centre couch on XI.
Actually, my kit had 4 astronauts!! One for the conspiracy nutters, methinks?

In your earliest shots you don't have the S-1C and S-11 stages in the correct rotational orientation. The pipework on the upper stage should align with the pipework on the lower. Could that be it?For the rest, it looks identical

I've tried both orientations. No joy.
Have you checked instruction 98 again ?, I had the same problem last night ( Watching Glasto and beers didn't help), It seems i put the 4xTan coloured 1x4 tile's to high .top of Instruction 101 shows it better Edited by jonny142 on Friday 30th June 19:52

Is anyone going to Bricktastic in Manchester this weekend?
If you get chance it's well worth it.
I'll be selling there again. If you get chance it's well worth it.
Great event for adults and kids alike.
I'd imagine lots of fresh models to inspire, a mosaic to help build and bricks to play with again.
I think a number of models will make their first outing here.
Very much like the look of this (and with new house I'll actually have room for it!):
