Oooooh that looks exciting. My kind of era I'd guess (late 80s/early 90s). Is that the pirate Fort Eldorado?
Yup, there's all sorts

From what I can remember, there's some space (ice?) stuff, a monorail, tonnes of vehicles, an airport, fire station. We'll be interesting to look through the boxes.

Quite of a lot of it is sun faded though which is a shame. Found a space shuttle which is a real hodge-podge of different shades of white.

The monorail stuff is worth a small fortune now!

Built my 6991 a few months ago, checked it was all there and working and stuck it back in the loft. Along with the shuttle 8480 and the car 8880 they were probably some of the most playable sets i had as a child.

It’s also about 1/4 the size (being 1/72 scale), requires building, painting etc and the finished product will depend on how good your modelling skills are.

Don’t get me wrong, I love those little Bandai kits (I’ve got several in the stash) but they’re in a totally different market to Lego.
Fair enough.
Enjoy.

Anyone interested in my camper trailer before it goes on eBay?
It’s got more bits that than camper and was more fun to build, and as much so or more detailed inside too.

I don’t have the instructions now but they’re only a few quid to buy on line

Making good rebuild progress....
Had to mod the truck roof for playability biggrin

I don't think I've ever seen that set before. Might have to try and find one as it would go well with this
Technically JTW should have the parts for that helicopter transporter set as well; I got it back when it came out but it got knocked down and all the parts mixed in with my general lego building stuff (which JTW now has).

ETA just mentioning this incase James is up for the ultimate lego-reconstruction challenge! hehe

Woah woah. The parts are all there - I haven't seen the 4 doors I need though? But.... Challenge. Accepted.....

I'd better dismantle this then....

The big black doors with inset windows? I had used them in buildings IIRC.

No ambulances, but tons of rescue planes and helicopters!

Which brings me to my current problem, my oldest turns 7 in two weeks, and has requested a helicopter for her airport (currently has a cargo plane and air-ambulance). Under €40, i have about 7-8 sets which include a helo to pick from, and there is no real clear winner to me eek

The tiny 4-wide copters dont really impress me, the twin rotor in the police set i find rather small for the price of the set (many parts go into the side builds i imagine), which leaves the big coast guard machine, and no less then 4 6 wides (ambulance, firefighter, police and jungle cargo) to pick from.. (and annoyingly, no baseplate with a helipad)

The planes she has are the same 6-wide size, so i feel the big coast guard machine would feel out of scale, but at the same time i dont think the sidebuilds on most of the smaller set really add value for her, and id like to give her something impressive, and at least to me the €20 sized 6-wide helos dont really impress much
My son has the small jungle cargo copter 60158, its a nice design but a bit fiddly and only picks up a quad bike type vehicle.
He also has the firefighting helicopter 60108 which isn't as nice a build, big specific helo parts, but quite good fun trying to put the fire out with the round 'water' bricks.

I had those both under consideration, i like the fire fighting helo (big fan of that specific cockpit piece), but as my kid wants it as an adition to an airfield, i feel like the dumpsterfire is a bit useless.

I ended up going for 60166, the big rescue helo, i managed to get it relatively cheap and figured i would get the kid a big(ish) set for her birthday rather then the usual €20 fodder, i fondly remembered getting an airport fire truck for my birthday (not sure what age i was), and the fact that it was wider/longer then the standard stuff back then really made it special for me, and i very much want my kid to have that same warm feeling.

Interestingly, while i was at the toy shop they also had an older mining set (which lego no longer lists), making for even more choice in helicopters eek

Kids are spoiled for choice on helo's at the moment.
Best I ever had was 6482!

My son chose the mining helicopter (the green one) in the Lego Store a few weeks back. Nice little build with the winch through the floor etc.

I think most are essentially the same at the moment, the new Jurassic World one out in a week or two looks very similar.

Tonight’s hunt has yielded the 4 doors I’d need (in addition to the windows).... and I’ve found online instructions.... And a full parts list - most of which I think I actually have....

My partner has rolled her eyes and said “I guess I know what you’re doing at the weekend” hehe

I recently bought the Black Sea Barracuda vintage pirate ship to go with the old caribbean clipper my girlfriend got for her 5th birthday many years ago.

I remember seeing this set in shop windows and catalogues as a kid and I still love the design and colours, it just looks great. Did buy some new sails for it but it's otherwise Complete and both ships will likely end up on display somewhere.

Particularly like the details around the stern.

5 hours (so far) of going through the parts list and collecting the bits : https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=559...

So close to being there but I suspect I will have to improvise a few things to make it all work and I seem to be short 6 wheels, but I think I can work around that as they're the double axle wheels - I am hoping to have some time this weekend to finish the parts collection and actually start the build...

I rebuilt this last weekend after my parents dropped off a couple of sets from my childhood - only another 20+ sets to work through...
