Long time lurker of this thread. Got back into building lego as an adult when I was sectioned for being insane and during the long recovery period I was very bored and needed to keep my mind occupied. Started with technic and got back into normal lego when I was released from the nut house. Unfortunately I had my driving license revoked for a long time so carried on with lego to keep me occupied. That was 10 years ago now!

Still have most the technic but concentrate on normal lego mostly now as I am getting ready to start my first proper lego city.

Started off building Wall-E one christmas. Its an "ideas" project. Built a few ideas models now and quite impressed with the extra effort they tend to go to on the ideas models. Also found a nice scale rocket launcher to go with it!!

NExt for my city, a couple years back there was a cheap deal on the police station model so i bought a couple and some extra bits. First off I made a small generic office block:

The cell phone tower is a bit rediculously big at the moment but it will go on a bigger building when i make one.

Out of the rest of the set, I built my own design small city police station with a reasonble size custody suite.

MY police force rule with an iron fist, so one prisoner "hung" himself which has spread fear amongst the prison population.

The rest of the prisoners just sit bored in thier cells awaiting thier fate.

In true lego city style, even for such a small station, there is nice sized helipad.

This is a selection of houses and general buildings I had already amassed. Although mostly based on Lego sets, most have been modified or extended significantly.

Due to the release of dinosaurs in the last jurassic movie, the local lego campsite was hit by the raptors before anyone could try and catch them. A idiot with a selfie stick was the first easy victim:

Must have been some muscle twitching on the camera button.

Next victims were unaware of the horrors that lay ahead, asleep in thier tent.

(David attenboroughs voice) The mother raptor feeds her young offspring:

The final victims before the raptors were scared off:

Bought a police jet which is going to be re-roled as Naval Air Squadron aircraft. Added a few extra weapons:

Extra hardpoints on the wings for when my brick link order arrives:

Even my air display jet has been armoured up:

My attack helicopter force is also taking shape:

I guess if there is any post brexit civil disorder in my lego city then it will be quickly put down!

For Xmas I got the latest city hospital model. A pretty good effort by lego, but seriously needed extending for my use. So with a lot of extra bricks from bricklink i have retained the building style but extended it.

Awaiting a few more bricks and parts from bricklink to do the full interior so at moment only the ground floor is complete. Starts off with the main entrance and reception. Has booking in desks, an ample size shop/canteen, sitting area for visitors and the A+E triage sitting area.

There is a lot of people waiting due to a collapse at a local mine being declared a major incident. You can see some of the minors and other patients in the main A+E treatment area:

A decorator is having a serious head injury stitched up in one of the major/resus rooms:

In the other Resus room a critically injured Miner is being treated for multiple traumatic amputation. The team are desperately trying to stem the blood loss before sending him to surgery to see if the limbs can be saved and reattached. Lets hope they save him there as I havent built the hospital morgue yet!

More bricks arriving soon so I can finish the other floors. Hoping to include some general outpatient treatment rooms, operating rooms, Intensive care, general ward, psych ward and a morgue.

It's good to see the models being adapted rather than just out of the box, something I'm guilty of. While the large hospital is needed to cope with all the injured/ dead.... Are you sure you're cured? You've killed more Lego people than most 5yr olds!

My 5 year old loves "modifying" his brothers sets (8) who prefers to build and display them. Its getting a little annoying finding parts of Star Wars mini figures spread around the place!

Great effort for those subtle modifications, loving it.

I love that my son modifies the sets, but I'll admit I have to strongly resist the urge to get all President Business when minifigure parts start getting swapped around! Currently have a Darth Vader body with Marty McFlys head and no helmet in our living room.

Even the dinosaurs have had bits swapped around.

At least he has stopped chewing the MF weapons!

Hahaha I'm not cured just sane enough to not be locked up! The way the NHS is I'd have to murder people to end up with decent psych care.

Forgot to show the terrorist murder in my city:

Hence the new SWAT team:

Each of those has made me smile. A lot. Please tell me that there’s a gaggle of doctors around the back, smoking furiously?

Brilliant stuff, I'm assuming the weapons aren't Lego (and possibly some of the minifig faces)?

Speed champions Ford Fiesta Rallye is currently on offer at Sainsbury’s/Argos - two for £15.00 so bought a pair tonight.

Also picked up the Chevrolet NASCAR racer for a mere £13.00. Photos up when built.

The swat team are all oxford rather than lego. Smyths did a couple of oxford brick sets with a swat theme a couple of xmas's ago. You got a great swat truck and APC between 2 sets. However they are minifigure scale but much too big for lego city scale vehicles as lego scale is a bit odd. Plenty of weapons on ebay etc for lego minifigures. Although I haven't gone that way yet.

Few more builds.

This is my fire station. Baed on a lego set but made a bit more realistic to a typical uk non HQ station. Simple two garage with offices/living space above. got rid of the silly fireman pole outside the building, you certainly don't see that in real life. Still has the helipad on the roof from the original lego set but might get rid of that and rebuild the fire helicoptor into another attack helicoptor.

Wanted a petrol station for my city. Lego did a pretty good one a couple of years ago but only 2 pumps so had to basically double its size to make it more respectable. Included a decent sized fast food place as they often do these days. Also has a small garage built in. Not sure if it should stay a garage or a car wash yet. Used a road baseplate for the base. I don't use any real lego road baseplates as they are silly money. These are from wilko and look just as good. Also being one plate thick rather than the typical silly thin baseplates makes it easier to match up to other structures.

This is the only unmodified lego building I have so far, last years creator expert Diner set. I am very impressed with it to be honest. Great attention to detail and a nice size being a full building rather than a shallow building you get on most city sets.

I think I will be getting many more of the modular buildings as they release them. There are some very nice ones in the history, however the old stuff is silly money now sadly.

Another vote for the Wilko base plates here, we've actually ditched our Lego ones in favour of them, they're so much better and obviously way, way cheaper.

Quite amusing considering how shockingly poor Wilkos actual Lego knock-off sets are.

Dakar Mini Rallye finished.

It’s ok. Best thing is the working suspension.

Overall, considering the cost of the set, it’s not that good.

D'oh ... I've just dismantled my VW Camper and stuck it on FB Marketplace locally.
A few bites for it at €70, being the average on Bricklink, but I just want someone to ACTUALLY PAY FOR IT. smile
