I'm still building the Wallsend Railway and Racetrack.

Now with an upper elevated line running 60's 12v

Running in this video are:

60's 12v (blue middle rail)
70's 4.5v (black engine)
90's 9v
Scalextric

I have a couple of questions if I may?
How are the trains powered? I'm assuming by battery, if so how long can they run for?

No mixture so:

1960's blue two rail - 4.5v via 3 c batteries pulled behind, simply on/off no control - a few hours
1970's blue three rail - 12v via power transformer, vaiable speed control - mains
1980's grey three rail - 12v as above - mains
1990's grey two rail - 9v via power transformer, viable speed control - mains
2000's onwards - radio controlled - li-po battery ( or 6xAAA) pulled behind \ in loco \ lots of control - LiPo a good while, 6xAAA's a couple of hours perhaps.

So in my video you can see the 60's / 70's and 90's track, however I've all the types and they all run on the sam guage.

Obviously the 4.5v and RC trains can run together, the others are powered by the track

And being Lego, you can also hack the old train motors to use modern RC and splice the RC units into the 4.5v battery wires, however it's a bit of a bodge.

https://lego.fandom.com/wiki/Trains

The beauty of Lego, is whilst you feel like a child, the trains are not tempremental and will run on virtually anything, in terms of track levels etc. Also as they're effectively somewhere between O and G, dust and fluff doesn't trouble them...

They are however now generally hideously expensive, however isn't Lego in general!!

Thanks for the reply dunderach, you're right about the cost but having recently got back into Lego and fancying a train set I can already see where this is heading!!! So she new ones run on a rechargeable Li-po, interesting!!!

Yes the new ones use either train specific motors like this:

or power functions can type like this:

Which is in this one smile

Here's mine pulling freight, old video sorry about the quality:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW06W6OcGx0

Now the great thing about the new trains being non powered rails unlike mine, is that you could run them outside!!! as when it rains being the loco in...the track is just plastic, however not sure how it'd last in winter, but would certainly be okay left outside for a few weeks etc. now that's a very cheap garden railway!!

Have a flick through my youtube stuff, there's lots of trains and other Lego stuff...

And just ask if you need anything else!!

Ok then, at the start of the year I bought the Sopwith Camel set but it remains still sealed with the cellophane around it, someone expressed an interest in acquiring one for themselves, if you're still interested PM me as I've now found myself looking at Lego train sets(Thanks dundarach!!!) So it's available!!!

I did my Mustang over the weekend. Very nice. Some interesting build methods involved and a nice solid finished model.

Rather disapoinyed with a number of missing parts which are now on order.
I agree. Has mine for a while but just did it over a wet weekend. Very nice model, looks really good when finished and some nice details. Highly recommended.

Me too. I tried to order it via the Lego website as soon as I got the email, but the site kept crashing, so I rang up and ordered it over the phone. I spoke to a very lovely sounding lady with a rather nice French accent, so the call was worth it on that basis alone!

Does anyone know where I can get the Simpson’s House and Kwik-E-Mart online, at a not ridiculous price? And the fisherman’s store as well?

Cheers, appreciate the offer, but ideally I’m after BNIB. I’ll have to do another scour of Smyths etc, but if I don’t turn one up, I may get in touch. It’ll teach me to buy stuff when they’re more easily available!

Ordered the moon lander today - I waited to get the free rocket ride but didn't expect the patch still to be given away. It is, so two freebies smile
