Non Technic LEGO

I built the Stranger Things set, really good. A little bit repetitive with the trees that hold the whole thing up but once you clip it all together its really impressive.
My children love it, I have now separated it again so they can play with both sides at the same time flat on the desk, trying to explain the upside down to a 7 year old is tricky.

On £ / piece they're pretty much on a par (Mustang & Fat Boy). I've just taken another look at the 'Stang today, IMO it's one of their best in techniques and final look. Highly recommended, even at the RRP.
I really like some of the stuff they're doing at the moment and I actually prefer the Creator models to some of the Technic ones.

I like these Lego creator sets, I build them with my kids, sometimes take one on holiday with us.
Like most of you, I grew up with Lego and loved making it as a kid myself. I had the first yellow castle and some of the original space series, the first mini figures with moveable legs and arms etc.
It seems though that these Lego creator sets like the mustang and bond car etc are priced a bit steep for kids to buy?
As a kid Lego wasn’t an expensive thing to buy, obviously sets varied but is it just all the licensing with the creator sets that shoves the price up or are they aimed at adults so priced accordingly?

I think Lego is one of (if not the most)successful toy company in the world because it has specifically targeted adults with the complex expensive 'models' and kids with the cheaper 'toys'. Hook them early and they will come back.
Look at the content, Stranger Things is 100% an adult theme, Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, James Bond, (Dark Knight and Adam West)Batman, Tron all nostalgia driven. Beetle, F40, DB5, Transporter all grown up stuff that is not likely to appeal to many kids.

I can't remember when I first discovered lego, it always seems to have been in my life but I very rarely build now, I still buy though and have over 100 sets in their boxes still sealed.
I enjoy the really technical builds that take hours and hours to put together. Id happily pay up to a grand if not more for a super complex and really interesting build that also looks good when complete but the market for those models is going to be slim.
The last thing I built was the chiron but I have the lunar lander sitting in the office and I really fancy building that.

I built the Lunar Lander yesterday - what a wonderful kit!
I was weaned on Lego from the early 70s and even had the original blue lander - the advances in Lego since that time to allow us to have what is fundamentally a scale model is just amazing and would be unrecognisable to the 4-year-old me, who at that time only had 5 colours and simple blocks...

Have you got/built the UCS MF? I have no idea how long it took, probably a couple of hours a night for almost a month, looks fantastic, complex and clever build in some places, however by the end it started to feel like a chore to complete. I haven't got it built at the moment as I have nowhere to put it.I enjoy the really technical builds that take hours and hours to put together.
