Non Technic LEGO
Discussion
LEGO 75894 Speed Champions 1967 S Rally and 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Buggy currently the cheapest it’s ever been at £26.99 I’ve been avoiding it as the set doesn’t appeal but at that price I snapped. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FNTMWMT/ref=cm_sw_r...
If anyone has a Fenwicks dept store near them, I was in there yesterday and turns out they have a 20% off Toys thing at the moment, until tomorrow, and it does include lego. I stocked up on a number of Architecture sets that I'm missing (which not many places other than Amazon and the official Lego store sell), but they had all sorts including the big Technic cars and Creator sets.
Their website says it is online as well, but they don't appear to have many sets online. In store at Brent Cross they had tons of sets.

Prices before the discount are akin to RRP or buying direct from lego themselves, so our friends at Jadlam may be cheaper on some items.

For Christmas I decided to go with the Y-Wing. I had toyed with the idea of spending the same amount on 3 Lepin sets (Y-Wing, B-Wing and X-Wing), but since Lepin fell apart it's harder to actually find them from a trustworthy source I found, and I didn't know what Lepin is now marketed as.
Santa dutifully brought a Lego City Cargo Train set and some extra track for our youngest, which he absolutely loves (and everyone else has been pleasantly surprised about).
One slight wrinkle with it is that one set of track points isn't fully engaging. There's probably about a half mm gap, maybe less, when switched which causes at least one of the trucks to derail.
I've had a good blow down the movable part, but they don't exactly look serviceable. Before I contact Lego to get it replaced, has anyone experienced this before and is there a self-fix solution?
(I suspect additional Lego train set elements will feature on his gift lists for a while now ).

I spent Christmas afternoon stripping down the Hogwarts Castle from last year’s family build. Space needed for the Falcon this year.
I like the sound of a big family build. When my two are a bit older I think I'll do something like that. Eldest is 3 at the moment so he got a couple of little sets that I've built for him.Murph7355 said:

The train stuff is fab. Track sets are eye-wateringly expensive, though. I bought a job lot on eBay. My nephew got the Hogwarts Express train set - It's not powered but I knew that. I've built a unit that will "push" it along which works nicely.
However, it seems that the train doesn't fit under the bridge when it's on the track so I've had to raise the height of the platform.
Also, the coal truck doesn't go round the track that I've built (there's much track - about 4-5 extra sets) so that's had to be set aside. And the three "driving" wheels don't go round the track either and the train derails.
Add to that the connectors between the carriages are solid and NOT the expected magnetic connections so there's been a few mods to connect the driving carriage.
I'll rebuild it with a powered unit when my sister buys it, but I'm glad my son didn't get this last year as, to be honest, it's a real disappointment.
The knight bus is cool though.
I've got the Space Base to build and my son got the ISS to build - can't wait

The niece has just built the night bus and hogwarts express and been great to watch. I was looking forward to running it round with the city train so may need to look into modifying like you. However, it seems that the train doesn't fit under the bridge when it's on the track so I've had to raise the height of the platform.

Just need a few more bits to be able to make a double loop track I think.
I suspect he'll be after a passenger train for his birthday next year
It's great stuff and he's not stopped playing with it. (Chews batteries mind).

If the bottom junction went the other way wouldn’t you get loads more direction changes? james_TW said:

Yes, but if I swap that with another piece, it'll be difficult to do as I might have to swap another junction piece out. I might have a crack later as there are a few spare track pieces left....I reckon the cargo set would cover the upper loop. He got a switch set (2 switches and some track) and some straights.
Am thinking a passenger train set and a few bits more might give scope for something like that
