Question for the Lego massif - is the Millennium Falcon 75257 a decent build/buy?

My youngest has suddenly found a passion for building Lego and Star Wars...and is mentioning a Millennium Falcon regularly. It'll be his Christmas present (from most people!). Just wanted to check with those in the know that it's a decent set, and makes a good, reasonably robust play thing once built.

UCS version is out. Am not spending that amount and it'll be too big for him once built anyway smile

AT-AT looks quite good too. That might need to wait until his birthday next spring.

I enjoyed it - good build and I'd recommend it!

Thanks Funk.

I'm assuming the stand you have is something bought separately?

Yes, there are a few on ebay - not perfect fit but that one works if you don't shove it around a lot. I guess I could probably mod it a bit but it does the job as it is...

Weird, it's not shown up in my inbox. The masked email isn't usually an issue - I got the copy notification of my message to you from PH. Would you mind messaging me through my profile instead?

I ordered one of these lamps at the end of May. It hasn't arrived yet and I can't wait!
What did you order and where from please..? biggrin
It was an advert on Facebook, these guys https://allstarview.com/products/apollo-space-rock... - NB this isn't a recommendation yet but I'm not naming and shaming either
Well I am! I ordered one on the 20th June. Delivery made today while I was at work, so I've come home to find they've sent me a Chinese knock off Saturn V rocket and not a lamp! Very, very annoyed!
Oh dear, I took a punt on one as well - but it sounds like mine won't be any better then - I'll try and refuse the delivery in the first instance in order to get it refunded immediately by PayPal. Sounds like it's 'significantly not as described' anyway! Ordered on the 17th June and it's still in Russia apparently... Did you pay with PayPal, ie. can you get them to sort it out?

Even more annoyingly I actually cancelled the order before it shipped but they ignored every email. Can you post pics of what was sent?
Sorry I don't know how to put pictures up.

Emailed their customer service and got this reply:

" Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting us.

Regarding far international shipping way and violent delivery, rocked is easy to be extruded.

So it is delivered in form of self-assembly parts, which is a kind of decompression method and entertainment.

It is easy to be assembled.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards

Joe"

Suffice to say that"Joe" got a stinging rebuke as a response. I feel a visa chargeback coming on.....
Is there no actual lamp part at all?
There's a small white disc that has space for batteries, and a small bag of cotton wool. So it's nothing like it is described or pictured on the website.
DEFINITELY getting refused..! Hope you're successful with your chargeback.
Managed to get mine refunded by PayPal as the tracking shows no movement in 3 weeks - enough to class it as 'not delivered'. Think I dodged a bullet on that one! Will be interesting to see what (if anything) does turn up though and I'll be happy to tell the seller I'll return it to them at their expense.

I'm not on Facebook but apparently there's a lot of posts on there about them and others being scams.
The parcel arrived today - I've not opened it as I'm in two minds as to what to do. I already have the refund based on 'no tracking update for over 3 weeks' - although not the reason I would've normally used I was fortunate it was so slow and got the refund I wanted in the first place. It's a 'default win' for me on that basis without having to argue that the item is 'significantly not as described' (or 'utter tat' it would seem!).

I've no desire to keep the item but here's where I'm not sure what to do - contacting PayPal to say it's arrived might mean they reverse the refund decision as the parcel has now actually arrived? I'm more than happy to send it back from whence it came (at the seller's cost, not mine!) but I'm wondering if it's just better to let sleeping dogs lie - I have my refund and given the size of the parcel that's sat here there's no way it's possible it's anything like what was advertised.

What do you folks think? Stay quiet and don't feel bad that some Chinese scammers are out of pocket by a couple of quid or pop it up on PayPal's radar and try to get it returned...?

No, not at all fella - we're each responsible for our own choices! You also clearly said it wasn't a recommendation at the time either.

I've got my money back from PayPal so no loss as it stands. Have you opened yours to see what they actually sent?

Spent a few hours on it tonight, have just finished stage 6:

A really enjoyable build so far - it certainly starts to resemble a recognisable object much earlier in the build than other sets I've tackled recently (UCS millenium falcon, lambo sian, batmobile etc.). There's also a particularly neat mechanism that latches the tray for the cartridge in the horizontal position with one press, and then with another press pops it up into the loading/unloading position. On the first press the brown axle tracks down the black slope, and when released gets trapped in the notch created by the white and orange tiles, which holds the tray in the horizontal position. Then on the second press, the green slope nudges the axle forward so that it is then free to slide up and back along the grey arch, allowing the tray to rise into the loading/unloading position. I'm not explaining it very well, and it probably won't make much sense from a static image, but here goes anyway:

One more for good measure. I now stink of burnt newspaper but think the image came out ok!
