Yeah I saw that. Already got it and it is a great build to be fair. Lego milking it like a prize Heffer cow. Wonder if the person that came up with the idea is going to get paid out again??
Apparently the designers were consulted and will be receiving royalties.

Popular and big sellers I guess, Lego certainly know how to make money, which is why most of the Star Wars UCS sets are based on the OT, they haven't done a single UCS from the new trilogy and maybe only one or two from the prequels, they know they wont sell as well.
Not strictly true, the new UCS Falcon has the option to be made up as either OT or new trilogy.
On the large kit side there's also the Porg & BB8, which have many similarities with UCS sets such as Yoda & R2D2, despite LEGO labelling the latter as UCS but not the former.
Yeah, indeed, good points.

Every time I decide I've got enough Lego, Lego group go and release something like this.

Will be a must have to go with the fire-house and minifig scale Ecto-1
Be interesting to see how the size compares to the 1/8 (non Lego) Ecto-1 I'm building as well.

I’ve had a look at the images on the LEGO website. Looks like it is 47cm long and 22cm high.

And the rust appears to be stickers.

I've never bought a non-technic set before, but I really like the look of this...

Good to hear.

Ecto1 ummmmm might have to get that one to go with my other, smaller Ecto1 model.

That's incredible, makes me sad that as a children my brother and I had loads of original Star Wars stuff as my dad was a real Si-Fi fan and a huge Star Wars fan, it was all well played with and eventually thrown away!!!

It has been kept immaculate unopened in a box since the 70s though. Was it an especially rare one with the vinyl cape? I think I had a few jawas, nobody at school liked them as the cape was rubbish and always traded them.

Yes extremely rare, but it has to be from the “first run” with the “12 Back” card, shallow plastic “bubble” etc etc. Oops my inner Star Wars nerd is peeping out. Lots more info (and a Star Wars internet wormhole) at the Star Wars Collectors Archive...

Is there a Star Wars toys thread?
