I realised I actually have a Bionicle set from 2001 - I always thought of it as an offshoot of Technic aimed at kids. Seems to have been important to Lego's financial success since the 1990s. If it was popular, it very much passed me by despite my stepsons having a few sets.
That was literally my interpretation of it too, and I'm probably of the age where it was aimed at me at the time.

I think it coincided with the popularity of Power Rangers and other kinda robotic-themes toys at the time, where Lego may have been a bit 'old fashioned'.

I can't remember being a big fan of it at least, although I think I had a few small sets - didn't some of them come in a kind of plastic tub or tube that the built model could be stored in? Something like that rings a bell...

Just a heads up, the flower set is back in stock on the John Lewis website - I've ordered some which should put me in the good books smile

Buy them, build them, sell them, get something else to build as I can't really afford to spend too much on Lego.

Done pretty well buying stuff on Gumtree and selling on to make a few quid to fund more expensive sets. Though if I took into account the hours spent sorting bits, then I'd be earning an hourly rate of 0.003p/hr!

Sorry no pictures, but thanks to Frau GenX the latest X-Fighter and TIE Fighter have arrived in the house. Home Office never looked so good!

Once I’ve built the Jeep and the Senna of course...

Just a heads up that Sainsbury’s have got some good offers on some small sets. 2 for £15.

I got the 3 in 1 dinosaur set (35018) and the Ferrari F40 speed champion (75890).

Ours is a small Sainsbury’s, so larger ones might have a wider range.

The blacksmith set looks pretty good and more importantly sized right for my planned city. Most of my buildings are city theme or extensions/moc's thereof so the full size "modular's" look a bit too big.

Will Lego pull it? I doubt it but I guess any future cara dune will not look like that one making it valuable.

A quick, probably stupid question, regarding Lego VIP & the new Porsche 911.

How exactly does VIP work - I have a VIP account & I want the 911 which I believe is available to VIP members tomorrow.

I have put the kit in my wish list so now what do I do?

Do I receive an email asking me to pay? I have not used VIP before however I want the wallet stuff that goes with the new release so need to make sure I get it.

Like I say, a stupid question however I can’t work out how the VIP works.

Awaiting help & abuse for being dense!!!!!

I'd imagine it's nothing more complicated than the site checking whether your account has VIP status or not - if yes, you get an option to buy. If no, you don't. I think it's a bit of a gimmick anyway as everyone can sign up for VIP status; it's not like they've restricted it to VIPs with a certain amount of points etc.

I'm hoping to get one with the VIP pack but I won't be distraught if I don't - it's not like I'll be keeping it BNIB or anything anyway.

Just seen the email about the Porsche, not see it before. I usually like the Lego Porsche’s, but this left me cold. Looks too flat and the windscreen looks all wrong.

I think when you sign into your VIP account it activates the add to basket selection so you can purchase it. For non VIP members the add to basket button would only be available on the general release date. Not sure on the wish list as I’ve never used that function.
