The modified model car thread - pics

Next project ready to go to Canada. the owner will finish the model himself.
Some of the parts I got to make a 5 door GTI.
First is to swap the nose.
The bonnet doesn't fit anymore.
Adding a bit of 'bonnet.
'Bigger rear spoiler.
Looks OK now.
Just be sure everything fits I reinstalled the doors, windows and lights.

This Porsche 911 T is in Australia
The base model a 911 diecast by Schuco in 1:18
Oilfillercap removed and made a hole in the roof
It will be a right hand drive
Now in Slate Grey
Engine ready to be refitted
Trying if everything still fits
Adding chrome trim
912 versus 911
Custom panel in stead of rear seats
Couple of artifarti pics
911s grow!
And now I have to move the mirror forward.

Nice work on the 911 MCWS, also a nice nod to McQueen's 'Le Mans' 1970 S with the reg' number
Just ordered a Schuco '72 911 Targa! Do they come apart easily..?
Re the cat photos.... any info on the Interceptor in one of the shots please - what make is it etc..?

Maarten what an inspirational thread. You got my creative juices flowing again but in this new direction. I purchased a cheap model to try my hand.
Model is a Maisto Viper. (Not the greatest of models in anyway but its the only die-cast company that makes a decent 1:18 Viper. I prefer die-cast to resin models. I'm used to AA, Kyosho, BBR etc)
Took it 95% apart and painted the entire interior section black.
Painted the underside of the hood satin black to simulate the shiny carbon weave of the real car hood.(failed lol. Will try to cut out some carbon look sheet later) and painted the center section flat black to simulate hood-liner.
Painted rear hatch black to look more like the real car. Painted the body hatch area to look like weather stripping.
Added head-liner to roof to hide some of the unsightly Maisto hatch hinge and roof treatment.
Added carpet to seat area and rear hatch area. I don't have the tools yet to paint such tiny areas as the dash etc so I just painted the shift knob and parking brake button silver.
Display time: I dropped the suspension using cut pieces of a Bic black pen as spacers. The ID of the pen fits perfectly over the pegs the springs fit on. Stance is much better and closer to the race cars beneath. Still have to clean up some of small paint areas with a cue-tip and alcohol but its about done.
I can't approach the level or the details Maarten and others can do but I had a lot of fun doing this. Will try and build a diorama next.
Tips for improvement would be greatly appreciated.

Still enjoying spending a little of my free time doing this. Messed with a black Maisto Viper this time. I wanted to have a go at the interior bits with this one. Goodness even my tiny brush wasn't tiny enough so I just carefully did the parts that were possible.
Interior bits before:
After:
Added roof liner and carpets to seats and painted sun visor red to match the red leather.
Painted wheels silver:
All back together next to the red one:
Had recently gotten a decal sheet for the old Oreca Vipers from 2000 Le Mans with the idea last night to turn the red one into a weekend racer. Just need a number 53 number plate to finish it off. Hadn't messed with water slide decals in over 2 decades and it shows:
Sadly the white stripe decal is so thin that the white looks a bit pinkish instead of solid white like on the Oreca Viper:
Want to change the wheels next.
