So I've had a love affair with 1/10 offroad since about 1994, always had a Losi kicking about in some form or other.
Had a break for about 5 years, but I'm now back with this:
The spec: Losi 22 2.0 mid motor setup, Absima CTS10 ESC, Speed passion 6.5 turn brushless, Turnigy 4850mah 2s saddles, brushless digital servo, Spektrum DX4S tx with SRS4210 DSMR AVC ABS rx. Running 18t pinion to get used to the power, it's rapid. Schumacher yellow minipins rear, yellow cut stagger on thin wheels front for carpet/wood surface.
Ran it last week at maritime, going to take a while to tame this beast! Running tomorrow at maritime again.
I also have a new Losi XXX CR, and a vintage original Losi XX CR Kinwald Edition which I am going to rebuild in the next few months. I have been hoarding new parts for it, everything is going to be graphite/titanium/anodised aluminium. Pics to follow.

So - how're you getting on with the AVC (Active Vehicle Control)? It's fantastically clever, but in my particular deployment, it didn't like the very undulating ground, & at very high speed. Very eerie also to see 'something other than you' control the vehicle (inc throttle, if so set up).

I have only briefly played with AVC, it's banned on track so I've not seen the benefit with lap times. On a lower grip surface, it definitely worked - as does the ABS. I need more time to see if I like it or not, cars these days are so fast some tech to help out for those with less skill is always good as long as you can switch it off!Excellent, love all things RC...

I bought one for my Son who is five. I know I know I should have started him on something more user friendly but I didn't want to end up with three or four cars. Anyway he drives it and breaks it and I so the spannering - so much more pleasant than working on the real thing.
His / ours has the the following mods - Asiatees has cost me a fortune
- Ally a-arms - the circlip mounts for the plastic ones kept popping off and getting lost so I gave up and upgraded.
- RPM wheels and Proline tyres - more truggy sized now and much kinder to driveline as they're massively lighter.
- Upgraded wheel bearings as the OE metal sealed stuff was poor.
- CVDs front and rear - big benefit in reliability over the dogbone design.
- Ally steering linkage and a massively upgraded servo - always seemed to get deflected over the bumps and it doesn't.
- Uprights and hub carrier at both ends
- New dampers - ally ones with adjustable platforms. Really not worth the money TBH and the only mod I've been disapointed with.
- Ferrari FXX 1/10th scale body modified to accept the wheel movement. My son picked this after he broke the truck body. It looks like a Ferrari Dakar special:
The only issue is a clicking front diff under load, but I've stripped it twice and can't see what is wrong. I have some new gears which I need to fit to see if it cures it.

CVD is a good upgrade dog bones are rubbish. Keep a eye on the grub screws and pins they tend to want to come loose on HB/HPI stuff. Loctite the screws in.
The alloy dampers is a real good upgrade. Get them set up correctly will make the car handle a lot better. Get them all the same lengh to start with.
Fill with oil level with the top ( not sure what weight for off road ) move the piston up and down and let them rest to get all the bubbles out of them ( takes a while )
Build them up
Check the rebound, push the piston all the way the piston should come out at the same speed and the same distance. Its a bit trial and error but if you get them the same the car will work a lot better.
Then once on set the ride height.
Good thread hi-jack Theboyfold!! My fifth-scale has been er - re-engined - and so I needed something in my life simple and easy to play with - it's been effing fantastic! It's also my first ever foray into electric. I'd be interested in the pics of the insides/suspension of yours - wondering if the MT is actually any different apart from wheels and body! It's overall fantastically solid and well-made - great attention to detail at every corner - so, amazing bang-for-buck (Wheelspin Models).
There next two are my solutions to the parasitic drain that the switch that comes with it has on the battery (so, a dedicated switch which completely disconnects the battery); and also for the need to be able to programme it readily - hence the permanently-affixed programming module! I also found it easy to flip and cartwheel without meaning to - and so wished to be able to play with settings such as drag braking force, braking force, and actually sometimes overall forward force. Acceleration I have set at Level 1 the whole time. For me, the Transmitter and receiver upgrade was key - as there are further settings which are important for me at speed - e.g. Steering Expo. I'm running it with 3S Lipo (deliberately, for run-times). I have actually also upgraded the steering servo (to a Savox), as the original was indeed a bit weak - now it will turn strongly from lock-to-lock on carpet, even with a bit of weight on the nose. Either way - more responsive in the field.
Your motor & fan look decidedly different, though - lovely fins on the MT, for a start!
And so this is all the access I need until I need to actually change the battery (so very rarely) - just windshield access to turn it on, and charge it when needed! The body stays on the entire time. Very easy now to just pick up and play/charge!

My boss bought a Mini Recon - fantastically quick straight out of the box.
Sadly the shock absorbers seem a bit weak. One shaft has bent and a couple of the shocks have 'popped' spilling their oil everywhere.
I did some research and bought some 3Racing RC18T shocks for him (which he still hasn't paid me for thinking about it!)

Buy them from Asiatees.com as they're a fraction of the OE HPI prices in the UK - a full set will cost you less delivered than a pair in the UK.

Fecking hell!!!I've ramped mine down to 25% forward force, and it's still pretty crazy and speedy!
Saying that - my 7-year old I could probably trust with the Bullet ST now, as the Mini Recon is very pacey and really teaches her delicate trigger-craft!

I went for the ST primarily because of the tyres it came with - as I liked the look and behaviour on grass with those. My other car is a fifth-scale Maverick Blackout V2 - but it doesn't have a normal engine anymore!! The ST looked much like the Maverick - which I liked.

I'm in the UK, bought it in a store in Berkshire, Apex Models. I went for the ST primarily because of the tyres it came with - as I liked the look and behaviour on grass with those. My other car is a fifth-scale Maverick Blackout V2 - but it doesn't have a normal engine anymore!! The ST looked much like the Maverick - which I liked.
This has just happened to mine, which I understand is a common fault. This means I have to replace it, right? Yes? Then, if I am replacing that, I'll need to do other bits? Right? Yes? Good....
